    I'm jealous!

I'm on £15 Talker but only paying £10 (250 mins 50 txts) and, not that surprising,
they're not offering any phone upgrade.
Since I don't use the mins/txts I'll probably go PAYG (on ASDA).

    £5pm 300mins, 150 texts, 25 pic msgs, 25 video calls, £5 downloads
new Nokia 6700 for £20 for 12mths contract.
  • Upgraded from my mix & match 1100 that was on the £20 special deal yesterday, had been paying £30 a month for last 18mnts as had x-series gold add on.

Did bit of research what i wanted then rang the vodafone 08080 044423 number (thanks for whoever mentioned that) to see what they could offer. I mentioned the other deal from this site saying a mate was given that but i would prefer more texts for less mins. Was offered 600mins, unlimited texts and free internet for £20 a month with free n5800. 18 month contract. Said i hadnt got my pac code yet and woman gave me her email address to speak directly to her to get that deal when i got pac.

Rang three and in the end they persuaded me to stay with free sony T715, my mix and match 1100 still for £20 and free internet. 18 month contract

Wasnt a lot to choose between the 2 so i stuck with three for simplicity of not changing provider. Three cunningly sent my new phone to my old address mind (not the one my account is registered under), but luckily have picked up the phone OK and been promised £10 credit from three

I think the fact they give you any handset is a plus on a £5 a month deal, as long as it's a handset you can use. Compare that to the £5 a month tariff from Orange - less minutes and a 36 month contract.

It's the lock-in I don't really want - I've used at least 3 phones on my current contract and none of them are the one that Three gave me. My current handset is an unlocked 5800 (with music subscription) but I keep eyeing up an eyephone but telling myself the grass is always greener.....

Maybe they'll offer me something different when I'm actually at the end of my contract rather than in the upgrade window - less than 2 months to go.

Not the most constructive of replies. You havent suggested any better alternatives, and dont seem to have considered the 1100 mins/messages and free internet when talking about paying that much for 18 months with the handset fees

Just phone them up. Their customer services are much improved over recent months and easy to deal with.

Not in my experience of late!

I renewed via 3's online shop, which offered me an excellent deal - £13.25 for 1100 mins a month, Mix and Match. I'd signed up the previous year when they were offering the package at £20 a month instead of £27 - 25% discount for the lifetime of the contract.

I had reason to contact them (can't recall what exactly) and got through to their call centre in India. They couldn't see the order at all which surprised me as I'd completed it earlier the same day. Had a BIG discussion, spoke to at least three people and over the course of the next few weeks eventaully found out that the team looking after sales from the web are based in the UK and distinct from the team in India. To the point they don't share the same systems!

The India office doesn't see that order whatsoever (a BIG failing in their system design IMO). I had several arguments and flat out called their team wrong for their handling of this process. Their argument was that I couldn't have M&M 1100 for £13.25 a month, however, as their system gave me the price (and I had the screenshots to back it up), that was a nonsense.

I wrote to their customer service dept, but no reply. I did deal with some very competent staff in the UK office, but the lack of transparency in information flow between their two offices onshore and overseas is troubling.

I now have my phone, at the rate I was rightly offered it for, but the phone itself (INQ1) is poor. However, for £17 a month all in, with unlimited internet and 1100 minutes, I can use my existing Sony Ericsson handset for a while longer. Failing that, I can just buy another sim-free set as long as it's 3G compatible. I won, but I wasn't prepared to be bulldozed by 3's rather awful service.

What is a loyalty discount and how do I get offered one?

My contract runs out in 2 weeks, and I'm on £15 a month (18months), 300 x-network min/texts + 300 3 network minutes. They only offered my the sony ericsson G520 which is virtually identical to the K660 I've got now. I've just noticed that Samsung Jet is on offer for £20 with same minutes/text and I'm very tempted. Including quidco that'll bring it down to around £18 a month. If loyalty discount can bring it even lower I'd be delighted, but I can't seem to find out how to get it?
