This is the Three retentions thread
Sorry - looks like they've been merged.
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.
  • Got 6630 Nokia from esave in October 2005, renewal deal in 2006 was £25 Talk & Text 200 for the whole year. Phone is rarely used so I expected a similar price offer. I would be crazy to take this offer. CS warned me prices may go up and this was the best offer they could make .

    Three offered:
    Year cost £96
    12 months at £8
    Talk & Text 200 (100mins/text)

    2006
    Three offered:
    Year cost £25
    12 months at £20 (Credit £215)
    Talk & Text 200 (100mins/text)
  • 3 rang me up earlier (phone not due for renewal till December), I spoke to chap who told me they would renew my tariff (pricematch flext35 tmobile one £35/month for £180 credit) on a 12 month contract with a free nokia n95

I should have bitten his hand off tehn but stupidly said I would think it over and ring back. I ring back am told flatly best they can do is same tariff with no free phone, or £100 for the phone on 18 month tariff - literally 10 mins later

do the people who ring you have power to offer better deals ?
  • Yeah when they ring you it's from the executive office in scotland. but when you ring them it's mumbai.

But their deals seem to be quite rubbish.

Yes, Customer Options who ring you make far better offers than Customer Services, who take your calls, although both are in India.

You need to wait for Customer Options to call you back to repeat the offer you want.

Customer Options rang me to offer Text & Talk 600 (500 min 100 texts) on a no phone 12 month contract costing £30 for the year, 6 months free then 6 months at £5, with the option to continue that plan at £5 per month for life. I said I'd think about it and call him back, so he said he'd note the offer on my computer record.

I rang Three back within half an hour, but the Customer Service person disclaimed all knowledge of the previous offer, and said the best offer available was something like £10 per month for 12 months.

I declined his offer, and the next day Customer Options rang me with the original offer of TT600 at £30 annual cost, and this time I accepted the offer.

Three called me back as i had asked to go on to PAYG.

i got the above offer (TT600 500 min & 100 text) without the 6 months free at £5 a month, still happy what do you get for a fiver these days.;)
  • I had another go today asked for PAC code (never done this before). CS still offered me the Talk200 £96 deal. Asked what new deals they could offer me with a handset. Offered new Sony K800i free on 12months at £12 a month and 300 mins/150 txts I accepted immediately.

Have given notice to end a 12month contract two weeks ago. Nothing special offered by customer services and I tried again today, maybe a couple of pounds a month cheaper than current contracts. However I would get a better discount going through Quidco or risk a cashback. I do have 2 contracts and I was surprised they did not know. But this just confused me as he could offer a better deal on the one I still had 6 months running on. I did explain I wanted one for buisness and one for personal. Not had a ringback from any customer options team that I am aware of.

Anyway anyone know if the Three shops would offer some sort of retention deal or they just for new customers only lol

..and how many contracts do three allow at one time. I assumed I could have 2 or 3.

The Cambridge 3 shop told me that as of last Monday 24th they could offer their own retention deals,I will give them a try next week as I am working out my notice and report back.I have also not heard anything from 3,do they just offer deals to big users or people that regularly go over their monthly allowances.

I don't know about them offering retention deals to customers who regularly go over their allowance - if anything I think it is the opposite - I slightly underused my allowance and I was hounded by the British retention team (probably thought I was more likely to leave as I was not using their service to the maximum) - my sister regularly went over her allowance , monthly bills at around £65 pm with a £40 line rental and she had to go begging to the retentions team. she got a decent deal from them in the end but I'm not sure if they use an exact science when deciding who to give these great deals to.
