Three are thinking along the same lines: they offered me transfer of ownership when I gave my notice to cancel. As far as I know, though, the new owner gets your number.

I just rang to cancel because I'm a Virgin customer and have been offered me a Nokia 6303 (or LG KS360 or LG Cookie) with 150mins/250txts for £12.

3 offered me an SE G502 with 75mins/unlimited texts for £9.78. That covers my usage anyway, don't use the phone much.

Can I do better or should I take this?
  • I think you can pay £10 to change your number if you tell them your getting witheld number calls (i.e. harrassing calls).

I agree.Except that it wouldn't. Three are offering nothing to retain customers; just what they offer new customers, which works out more expensive than if you were a new customer because you can't get cashback.

    Nokia n97: £35 pm=£630
    Quidco=£32.50
    Total £597.50

n97 sim free from nokia £499
    Quidco @ 5% £24.95
    Total £474.05
    Plus 18 x £5=£90
    Total £564.05

    Just one quick example.

Oh I see what you mean - you're saying buy a phone elsewhere and continue on the current contract.

Been having a bit of stick with them................ loads of stick! they done the E71 on on one but one of the others they are not playing ball. they are also very rude at times, and its not the language barrier trick! got told by (a real manager!!!) that outbounds unless you request will not be calling people back, this was from Friday, a new rule. So they will not be offering anything.

Anyone on the £20 (was £27 £7 discount) mix and match 1100, getting anything good, I am talking people who have just had the contract for 18 months. It make no difference if you have a lot of contracts with them too, they do not care about loyalty!

what are you getting offered on the M+M1100.

    Thanks

Exactly. It's a great contract, particularly since it can be cancelled with 30 days notice. Not much to complain about I feel.
  • Exactly £5 a month is still £5 a month and I don't think any other network will even match that let alone beat it. Instead of cancelling your £5 a month contracts like they want you to just give it to someone else or continue use as a sim only contract.

I just wish Id even been offered a £5 pm contract lol!
  • Hi

My wife and I have two monthly contracts with 3, we have been with them for 3 years on 2 18months contacts, and they are both in my wife’s name. The contracts are due to end 11/10/09. We both pay £15 for 300 mix and match units. The signal we get at our new home is quite poor and only seems to allow us to make calls or send texts from the left hand side of our kitchen. Both of us would rarely go over 100-150 units a month, and due to poor mobile signal we would tend to us our home phone in the evening rather than the mobile.

We have decided that unless 3 offer us a very good deal for a lot less we will end our contract and move to O2 (as their signal is great in all parts of our house) either on a pay monthly or pay as you go basis.

Now my question is (sorry for the long winded explanation above) how do we cancel the contract with 3? I have heard people mention 30days. Do I have to advise them before 30 days from the end of the contract or is it within the last 30 days?

And then what about a PAC code how does this work, do I ask for it at the same time or do I do that later after I have told them I want to cancel.

And how long is a PAC code valid for and do I have to use it with another network before the 3 contact completely ends?

And what about retention calls, how does this work?

Sorry about all the questions, and thanks in advance for your help.
