Also consider asking them to do a blinding deal for keeping your old phone (or going PAYG), and then buying a handset you like off-sim direct from the manufacturer. This will be my next route.
What £ would you say is a blinding deal for keeping my old phone for t & t 500 on a 18 month deal?0 -

Hi, Did you requested a cancellation and then received a phone call from 3? or you just rang them and they gave you the above?

It's not as simple as that anymore. You always have to request a cancellation, but you also have to invest a lot of time and effort into getting a deal you are satisfied with. This may mean spending about half hour on hold to get through to a certain department.
I've been doing this such a long time, I could probably write a book about it. I know I could have got a bit more from the deal, but the time I would have to spent outweighed the benefit and my window of opportunity was very small.0 -
I have been with 3 for sixteen months on an expensive (£35) mix and match 300 deal (my own fault for wanting the N95 8gb) so when it came to upgrading I had given considerable thought about how I was planning on using the phone for the next eighteen month period and had decided any new deal I got should include unlimited text messages after looking around the other networks I decided that 3 still offered the best package – was looking for unlimited text messages and internet access so call up and explained what I wanted only to be offered a reduction on my current price plan, completely missing the point.
I actually had to tell them that the £20 Texter (& internet) package seemed to cover more of what I was looking for. To cut a long story short they told me that they could do nothing with the price, even for existing customers but would give me a free memory card and phone cover with the Nokia E71 handset (not a great deal but I thought I was getting something extra for my money) the phone arrived on Monday and I discover that I have received no extras as they come with the phone as standard so a call to “customer services” which lasted over an hour and a half resulted in them offering me a £5 credit to my account. I refused this and was told I would need to call back as they call centre had closed.
I was on the phone on Tuesday morning for an hour going over the same ground again and getting nowhere and asked that they put a note on my account asking that I am transferred to a manager when I call, Wednesday they do up the offer to £10 but inform me that this one time credit to my account will mean that if I have any problems with the phone I would not be able to return it.
Today I actually cancelled my contract and informed them that I would be returning the E71 handset after spending two and a half hours on the phone.
It would appear that 3 don’t care about customer loyalty or the fact that I was mislead about the deal they were offering.
Sorry that my first post has ended up so long but anyone with 3 would be better cancelling the contract and getting a new one via the various cash back websites.0 -
hey all, i'm looking for a little bit of advice. i've been with 3 for some years now. currently on 500m 100t with a 200t bolt on for £15 and some pence. this is from my last retention offer 18months ago. i got my pac last month and intially got some calls offering less mins/texts for about the same price with a new phone.i rejected these thinking/hoping i'd get a call in the last few days but nought! it's a rolling type contract so should just keep on at the same price till/if i move.
i've noticed that its seems 3 aren't too fussed with keeping customers or bettering current offers. i'm happy with the amount of units, i'm pretty much always with in my limits. so, do ye think they can better the monthly charge?get a new pac? or should i just phone up and get a new phone upgrade to sell and reduce the monthly cost that way. compared with some packages it does seem reasonable monthly cost for units.0
