3 Retention Deals

  • My contract with 3 expires on November 5th. Today they rang me with the first offer to retain my custom. It was:-

    Nokia 6120 handset
    750 mins
    150 texts
    50 video mins
    50 picture messages

Normally £35 per month but I could have the deal for £20 per month on an 18 month contract or £22 per month on a 12 month contract as I had been with 3 for over three years.

I turned the offer down. I have been observing the very good offers made to 3 customers on this forum. If 3 want to keep my custom, they will have to do better than their opening offer.

Originally when I rung them a few weeks ago,to see what they were going to offer me,they offered me the same VTT 900 deal for £30 a month instead of the current £35 that I'm paying for the same deal,as I was a 'loyal customer.'

Of course I'm that loyal that others have been offered it cheaper. But saying as I wanted more minutes and texts, (See my posts within this thread.) and they weren't prepared to play ball,I have said adios to 3.

    Ken.
That's my mutt in the picture above.

Well done Ken! I've followed suit. My 3 number is in the process of being ported to Orange... on a 18month contract! 3 just lost me simply over a petty thing. I've paid all my bills by Direct Debit (never paid late), and been with them for 2 years. As a "loyal customer", I was being offered a "once in a lifetime opportunity deal". Whilst chatting on the phone negotiating the deal, I searched the 3 website and found the deal cheaper online. Explained it to the guy who said it was only for new customers, and that I wouldn't be able to keep the same number. Ummm... "I can port it onto PAYG Orange, and return to 3 contract"... to which he said, "It will be too much hassle"... and I gave him a smug remark as "hassle worth £195 and a minor delay of porting, it's worth it"! He kindly offered me the PAC code, and never heard anything back from them again!
  • I just got a call from three, 3 months from end of my contract....

I explained their contracts dont suit me as they either have lots of texts or lots of minutes i need both. He offered me a "personal plan" for £35 a month.

I said this was too expensive, he said ok 25% off that - for just £26.25 and any new phone.

I said OK, Ill have an N95 (I was being vicisious i knew they wouldnt honour this). He paused for a few moments before giving the excuse they were out of stock. I said I would wait, im patient - he said erm, dont know if they are coming in again, its an old model (what the hell!!!).

I then moved on and said, anyway that is too much still, ive been with you two years and expect a better deal than that.

He offered me the same price plan with £10 off, so £25 instead of £35 a month, if i kept my old phone.

I said NO, £10 x 12 = £120, you cant tell me not having an N95 is only worth £120 to you. So he said, ok £15 a month.

I said i would ring him back..

Just shows how much u can negotiate within 1 call. And i still have 3 months to negotiate that price down more!!

N95 "out of stock"!? I'm sure you don't mind waiting 3months to receive it, especially if its for just £26.25 p/m and getting the phone FREE! Well done!

Except that Three didn't offer anything of the sort.
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.
  • It was Three direct.

I called them back directly as I got a missed call from them.
  • Yeah seem to offer me same as my current price plan thats 400 mins, 250 txt etc. with £5 download for £10 per month what a rip off!

I think i'll get the £5 for 750 mins for life that sounds better
  • Well, I'm off to get myself a shiny new contract, still not decided between N95 £28 talker or a change to t-mobile.

Had a very annoying "customer services" person just in my last ditch effort to securea decent deal on the N95. I think her english wasn't as good as some I have spoken to which didn't help.

Basically she wouldn't offer anything better than the £45 contact and didn't understand that I could get a better deal elsewhere. no chance of speaking to a manager either:mad: .

I have been happy with 3 so far but actually she really p***ed me off TBH!

Anyone know what t-mobile are like???
  • One week to go until my contract's up (which I've already given 30 days notice on) and got a call from 3 saying I'm a valued customer who's always paid bills on time and so they'd offer me 500 minutes/100 txts (less than I use a month so they've obviously not really looked at my usage) free for 6 month and £5 a month after that (for life). I told him I've already signed up to another (3) contract but he still tried offering me it as an addition to my new contract in case I use up my minutes, or offer it to a friend to use. I turned it down anyway. We'll see if they come back to me again!
