I just experienced fantastic customer services with Three. I called to discuss the tariff shown on my bill because it changed at the end of the year and I was worried my last cashback would be refused. The customer service person (probably in India; free call; answered immediately) understood the problem and offered to call the cashback company to explain the situation.

Edit: and she called back when she said she was going to.

I`m currently on DT 1000 (750 mins 150 txts etc) with Sony 850i at £35 pm.

I'm currently on the same deal, with a Nokia 6233,and I'm currently paying £30pm,and my contract ends in October as well, but to date,I've had no contact from 3.

As I've just set up a small business recently,I'm hoping to up my tariff with whatever network gives me the best deal, and I have about £50pm to spend, but I'm sick to death of dropped calls with 3, (Yesterday was an example,7 times in the space of a mile.) and may look at other networks, with 02 looking to maybe be better for my needs, with 1800 mins a month available, plus any other bits I can squeeze out of them.

What also hacks me off with 3,is everytime I experience a dropped call,or make just a short one,it takes a minute out of my allowance, whereas when I was on Vodafone, they took whatever I used, even if it was 30 seconds.

Obviously I am looking to get the best I can,and may even go for a cashback deal,as I've had no problem with them in the past,in fact my wife has just sent off her final claim with Simply 3G,so I can then get the best of both worlds, with a cashback deal, and my business subsidising my phone.

    We'll see.

It's a common thing for 3 to phone customers who are leaving in their last few days, and to offer them a crazy deal. £5p/m for life... but you have to keep your existing phoen right? What tariff are you on? I was offered that deal on one of my 3 contracts (£35p/m) and the other one which I was paying £30p/m they discounted it to £10p/m - both deals were based on me keeping the same handset, but I wanted an upgrade, so declined both offers.

I'm pretty busy at the moment and was worried about forgetting to do something about my contract before the 30-day notice.

So I phoned 3 a couple of days ago, said I wanted to cancel.

They offered 300 minutes, 150 texts, 25 video minutes, 25 multimedia messages and £5 downloads, per month, on a 12 month contract, for £5/month.

    I took it.

They offered this to me as well last week. I also asked if I would have 30Mb free internet that I have currently on my Talk & Text 700 tariff, to which they said yes. I called up yesterday and they said that this wasnt included and that I would have to pay £5 extra to have 1Gb of Internet. Can anyone tell who is currently on the £5 per month retention deal if they get the free 30Mb internet browsing?

No you don't. When I originally called to give notice, I asked them about that and they wouldn't budge. To be fair, £5 for 1Gb a month is very cheap, but I think there are restrictions (such as blocks on some streaming services, and not being able to use your phone as a modem, though how they'd prove that you were I don't know).

Is it not possible to use the £5 inclusive downloads provided with the retention deal to then purchase this 1Gb internet service? Or is that only to be used for ringtones and videos etc??

The downloads are only for pointless things like ringtones and videos, yes - not for general internet access or purchase of add-on internet access. I did once download a Tetris game (on special offer at £4.99) but have otherwise not used it at all!

Well,I got the obligatory phone call from 3 today,to tell me that my contract was expiring in October, (No s**t Sherlock!!!) and they could offer me the same great deal, (DTT 1000) but at £5 per month less,to which I replied that I was looking for a LOT more minutes, due to me setting up a new business, and they offered me 2000 mins,300 texts and a load of other gubbins, and because I was a loyal customer of their's,they would discount it from £100 to £80.

    Needless to say that after I had stopped laughing,I declined,as a friend of mine,and his wife,have the 2000 mins tariff,for £50.

We'll wait and see what they offer me in about 3 weeks time.
