Kept saying I wasn't interested & he eventually issued my PAC & told me the account would be closed in 30 days
Well that's a load of rubbish for a start, you can ask for a PAC and for the next 30 days you can transfer your number to a new network and your previous contract will be cancelled, if at the end of the 30 days you haven't used your PAC then your contract will NOT end, it just continues as previous. If however you give 30 days notice to cancel your contract then at the end of the 30 days, you will be out of contract.
  • I phoned up 3 to request my PAC. Had a pretty friendly guy on the phone, told him that I could get a free Nokia 5800 for £20 a month with 40mins/unlimited txts. He must have thought I was telling porkies as he went to the dialaphone website to check it out and said "wow..... there's no way we can match that. I'll just go ahead and issue a pac code for you".

Nice and simple, the way it should be.

I've had no troubles with 3 and would recommend them to friends (as I have done already) so I'm glad that my time with them ended amicably.
  • What deal were you on before Citizen?

I have just received my PAC and the first call from retentions. I'm not a big user and was on 250mins/50 texts for £15/month. They offered me ("a valued existing customer who always pays his bills on time") the £9/month deal that is on their website. Turned it down and was passed to a manager. Cos I am a great customer he could offer me a new Sony Ericson phone, 200 mins, unlimited texts, 2gig mem card for £15 (£5/month cheaper than the website price). Turned it down cos I want a Nokia. Then he said that he could allow me to stay with them for an additional 30 days at £9 and wait to see if a better deal came up that he could offer me. Dont want to get caught in the new PAC code/new cancellation letter farce that I am sure 3 will dish out so I turned that down too.

Seems they cant offer you anything that isnt a deal. They cant cobble something together just to retain you like the other providers can. Or they aint doing it yet.
  • I'm on the 500 mins & 100 texts for £20 month but I also pay £5 for Xseries silver internet on top. I haven't accepted anything yet & still haven't received any calls from 3 with a new offer. I was telling a friend who works for Orange about 3, she said she could sign me up to Orange under the friends & family scheme & I'd get 30% off of my monthly contract for life! I had a look through the Orange website & saw that I can get a free N85 with 600 mins & unlimited texts for around £21 per month with the 30% discount plus a fiver on top for internet if I want it! The N85 is the phone I really wanted anyway but could never negotiate one from 3 cos they don't have it & now I can get one for the same money I was paying on 3 with more minutes & texts! 3 will have to give me a damn good offer on their N95 8GB to keep me now! So if anyone knows anyone that works for one of the mobile companies ask them to find out if there are promotional rates for friends & family. I'll keep you posted on any offer 3 give me.
  • I cancelled my contract with 3 last week, giving them 30 days notice. Today they offered me the following:

    Free Nokia 3120
    750 xnet anytime minutes
    150 xnet anytime texts

all for £5 a month on 18 month contract

I agreed as it was too good to pass up.

The other offer they gave me was: 750 x network mins, unlimited texts, 50 vids, 50 pics, 50 download and any phone I wanted. Unfortunately I was only interested in the N96 which I would've had to pay £69 for, which is still cheap.
how much were they wanting a month for this one?
  • I still can't find anything to record my calls with

Total Recall (tm) Call Recorder v3.2.0 for S60 3rd Edition

It does not have the ANNOYING BEEP.
  • I renew on the 1st of April with 3 . Currently coming to the end of an 18 month contract 500 anytime mins.. I quite fancy a Sony Ericsson W890i and wonder if I will get a better deal than £21 if I request a pac code and cancel. If they don't I am not that bothered about starting again from new as at least will get some money back via quidco...but could do without the hassle

That is a pretty amazing deal, can see why you took it! I don't know anything about the 3120 so I can't comment on the handset but If 3 can make me an offer like this on their N95 8GB then I'd stay for sure, however at this time I still haven't received any kind of contact from 3 at all. Did you get any kind of confirmation that it was a genuine deal before you accepted it?

Thanks, it was an older version of total recall that I used before that stopped working but I'll check out the newer version! Cheers!
