Personally I would leave 3 and go with someone else, unless THEY call you and offer you a deal their deals won't be very good.

The guy actually told me that they don't phone you after getting a PAC code so they won't better the "offer" they gave me. I received the PAC from them within 5 minutes so looking at other deals now.
  • Im a bit confused, my contract runs out in feb after 18 months do I have to give 30 days notice if I do not wish to renew??????

Your contract would just continue. If you don't want to enter into a new minimum period, just do nothing, and whenever you want to quit give them notice.
  • Thank you, I shall give them notice in the morning and find a better deal elsewhere, but definately not with 3. Thanks for your help Quentin

I phoned for my PAC on Friday 2nd Jan as my six month contract finishes on the 1st Feb. My 3 mobile is only a second phone so I don't want to renew. My main account is with Virgin, 300 mins and 300 texts for £10 per month as a Virgin Media customer.

Anyway the guy was persistant, saying that this new £9 per month deal was perfect for me and that I would get a new SE K660i etc etc. I told him that no matter what he said I wouldn't change my mind and in the end he gave up and processed my PAC.

Sunday evening (4th Jan) they were back on the phone. The guy said his manager hold told him to call me as they didn't want to lose me. Apparently I'm such a good customer; the deal they offered was especially for me and that I was to tell no-one else about it! LOL!!! After a good 10 - 15 minutes he gave up by saying "If you really want to leave 3 then go ahead."

So yes, they do phone you up once they have issued a PAC.

If you are certain youwant to leave, then a white lie in answer to the question "Why do you want to cancel?" will save you lots of time.

One thing 3 are good/persistent at is trying to stop cancellations.

"I no longer need it as my employer has given me a company mobile" gets them left with just one comeback of "would you like to transfer your phone to anyone else" - and the short answer to that gets you put through to the termination dept (where an encore has to be performed!)
  • Brilliant idea..I do get a works phone and I used it as my own for ages , I paid for my personal calls , they paid the line rental. So I wouldnt really be telling a white lie.

So I think I might just stick with the work one (can I use the sim from my work phone in the one from 3?

    Also , what is a PAC? ,
