As a upgrade, for £15 a month and £15 one-off for a Nokia E71 I was offered 250 min, 50 texts, free voicemail and 2000 3-to-3 mins. I can have usual internet bolt-on for extra. It suits my usage, should I accept or still haggle? 18 months contract, I was £15 talker before.

3 have been ringing me for the past month (contracts expire early December). I have 2 sep contracts: mine and my sons taken out at the same time. We are both on £15 pm for 250 mins and 50 text. I want to keep as near to the same monthly payments if i can. The best I have been offered is the E71 at £15 p m for 250 mins and 50 text with a 1 off charge of £60 for the phone (300 3 to 3 mins thrown in). The 2nd upgrade I was going to pay £17 pm for flex 300 and the W595. So nothing really that isn't available to anyone else.

You seem to have been offered better than me. I told them last week that I'd think about it and for them to call me again on Friday. Should I strike now while the iron is hot and ring them for this deal?

Another member also seems to have got a good deal with the C905 for £22 pm (I'd pay that for that phone).

    Cheers
  • I'm currently on the £15 p/m, 600 txts, 75 mins deal. My contract's due up in a month so I called them to see what they'd offer. I accepted a deal I've not seen mentioned on here before:

    Nokia 3120 Classic
    Unlimited txts
    100 mins
    £12 p/m (18 month contract).

I'm fairly happy with that as I was looking for more txts and a few extra mins, should suit me nicely! The phone is fairly plain, I did ask if there were any alternatives but the guy said no. Interestingly enough, he did say if I return it unused within 14 days then they could "discuss" swapping it for a more suitable one, maybe I'll give that a shot!

Hope this is useful to somebody!

  • I'm going to go with Quentin's advice and send the phone back when I receive it as I didn't have any sort of retention deal and get cashback from being a new customer and earn just over £30.

What about this deal on HotUKdeals

    http://threestore.three.co.uk/DealSummary.aspx?tariffid=1035&offerCode=18BOM5D009

seems better than any retention deal....ok so you get a new number....but with the possibility of Refer a Friend and Quidco....get a new contract

    Caveat Emptor
    I'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j

Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:

  • Watch these if you are looking at "retentions" or "upgrades" to make sure you get somethings at least as good!

All the contracts of 18months (apart from the £12 special) have unlimited 3-3 minutes on them, and the £35 texter (750 mins plus unlimited txts) is £26.25 with some excellent phones available too- none of this extra "video calling" charge (ie a premium for having that phone!).
