Having been three times promised a call back and not received one I finally stopped beating around the bush and asked directly for cancellations dept. I got transferred to someone that spent 20 minutes arguing at me. I said I can get a cheaper line rental AND a new phone with another network. I dont need a new phone, so I'd prefer a cheaper line rental than that. She asked where I am seeing another network with less than £15 a month line rental. I said Virgin, and she IMMEDIATELY said 'im looking at the virgin web site now and there are no deals that that offer you a phone as well'. What a blatant lie!! She also said 'three have no deals that offer you a cheaper line rental'. Well I know that's not true, so I said so. She got even more uppity, but I just said that there is no point carrying on this conversation if you are going to lie to me. I KNOW i can get a new phone and £12 a month line rental for 150 mins and 150 texts - the same effectively as the three 300 mix and match tariff. Ho hum, so I have managed to give my notice early, thanks to the per minute billing thing. Lets see if anyone calls me before then!

I wondered why I hadn't had any calls.

I called today and they're now telling me there is NO record of the cancellation on my account! Yet I was played the recorded message about what will happen when the phone converts to PAYG after I gave this notice on August 28 (above)

My 18 month contract with 3 is due to end next month.
I have received a few calls offering upgrades, but didn't feel that any of them were worth taking up.

I've never been one for fancy phones, however I have been tempted by the N95, then having read reviews on here, decided that the N95 8gb was a far better phone.

I phoned the call centre today and asked to cancel the contract. They put me through to the retention centre almost immediately. I told the woman that I was looking for the N95 8gb but only wanted to spend £25.

    I was offered:

    750mins/unlimited text
    50 mms/video call
    £5 downloads
    18 month contract - £27

I asked her to call back in 30mins. I then said that I was not keen on taking a 18 month contract and so she offered:

    750 mins / 150 texts
    50 mms / video call
    £5 downloads
    12 month contract - £24!!!

Dont want to get too excited as I havent received the phone, or the contract yet. I think I've managed to get quite a good deal though!
Hope it helps you huys too!!!

I am still waiting for my 1st call from them with 4 days to go before I am converted to PAYG. I called them today and asked if the 500 minutes that my existing contract has can be changed to mix and match because at the moment I have no text allowance. I was told no unless I paid £18 per month instead of £15. £18 is what I would pay if I was a new customer the only extra I was offered was a Nokia 6500 slide instead of the cheaper phone they are offering new customers. I turned it down but I will probably phone back later in the week and just go for the original 500 calls for £15 if that is all I can get because I don't want to pay more than £15

That's the kinda deal I was after! I've been with them 3 yrs, and they offered me nothing like that!

I had a supervisor call me back last night and he explained the situation properly.

Basically because I had extracted myself from the contract on a technicality they would not make me any offers.

However, if I waited until the 17th month of my contract, as a "walued customer" they would "certainly make offers that would be much more attractive".

So th elong and short of it is I uncancelled myself and will ring up next week when my 17th month commences and start the clock ticking again!

Just checked my notes, they offered me:
    12 months
    750m
    150t
    50mms
    pay £75 for N95 8gb
  • Was offered last night mix and match 700 with a nokia 6220 for £21 per month on a 18 month contract plus a £18 pound credit because I told them I didn't want to pay more than £20 per month..

I didn't want a nokia but they wouldn't do the deal with a c902 or a samsung soul.. I might take them up and sell it on ebay.. The nokia 6220 classic make about £175 new on the bay..

Is this a goodish deal or should I hold out for more?

The phone is coming tommorrow but I'm in 2 minds on whether to keep and sell or send it back..

They do seem reticent about giving away Sony Ericssons on their offers. Perhaps they have a garage full of Nokias they're trying to get shot of.

But like you say you can sell the Nokia (which unlocked fetch over £200) and buy a very nice Sony Ericsson with the money.

    PS - It's "you're the pigeon"

My final bill has just come through - £23, instead of £5! I phoned them to be told that I lost the 'loyalty discount' as soon as I gave notice.

I asked, "So I have to pay more than I agreed to?"
    "Yes."

    Nice. Can this be right?
Started comping for 2012. Won: iPad 2 - thanks SueMaggie; 10,000 Tesco Clubcard Points - thanks Maybe1; HABA Terra Kids Construction Set - thanks purplevamp.
  • I am worried the same has happened to me after I sent back a phone I received following some 'valuable advice' from someone on here.
