Three are such a bunch of lying b'stards.

I called retentions today to see if they'd give me a better deal as I can get the phone i want on t-mobile for £15 a month with 100 mins and 200 texts, but three want £17 a month.

As I went through the options a lady from Scotland came on and said "Go to your local three store for exclusive upgrade deals". More of that later

I got through to the bloke and explained my position, but he would offer me no more than £1 off a month. I said that's more expensive than t-mob and he wouldnt budge. he said "actually you are lucky because it takes a lot to even get that kind of manager discount". No it doesn't I said, you just went away for 30 seconds and came back with the deal! If you can't do any better there's no point wasting my time or yours continuing this conversation, so I hung up

And walked a mile to the three store, where I was basically laughed out of the shop! "The phone guys have far more authority to do upgrade deals than we do" said the bloke, barely looking up from his 'Nuts' magazine!
  • I got quite a good deal yesterday.

Had two days to go till termination

    Managed to wangle.

Choice of phone, Samsung U900 Soul, Nokia 95, Nokia 6220 classic Sony Ericisson c902, LG Viewty - whichever I wanted "pick one"- I wanted the LG Viewty.

My current package is Talk and text 500 e.g.

300 mins talk time Cross network
    150 texts
    25 video call minutes
    25 picture/media texts
    £5 worth of downloads

    For £20 a month.

He said I could keep this package, and also on TOP of this, I could also have 2000 "3 to 3" minutes per month for nothing.

First of all, he tried to make it an 18 month contract, I said "no, I dont like 18 month contracts, the phones and batteries dont last that long"

So he made it a 12 month contract!

Not bad for £20 a month I reckon! I can always sell the phone at the end of 12 months.

    My golden rules are:

    1) Give notice of cancellation, no matter what, no matter how much the Indian call centre pressure you, give notice and start the 30 days clock ticking
    2) WAIT - until the last two days before termination, if you havnt been called, call them, and say you are too busy to go into details and get them to call you back at a time that suits you.
  • judosteffer, well I didnt give notice of cancellation and didnt wait until the last 2 days but I would say I have maybe got a better deal than you did. Like I said they are sending me the 8GB N95 (not the standard one) with unlimited texts and internet and 500 mins xnet. All thast for only £5 more a month.

Think its a decent deal considering I didnt have to go as far as cancelling my contract.

    I'm happy with it anyway.

WARNING: Scammers pretending to be from Three are trying to make you change your contract. I got a call from 07827278902 talking about upgrading. I asked the guy if he was from Three and he mumbled something about "only operating with the three network". So I asked him when my contract expired and he came up with the wrong month. I told him it was the wrong month and he told me it wasn't. I told him not to lie and he said he wasn't. So I told him to ply an honest trade and he hung up on me!
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.
  • Hi guys,

I cancelled last month but the call never came so I called them yesterday to ask for my PAC (even though I knew it would reset the cancellation period - I want my no.).

The lady said i notice you have already cancelled and was there a reason for it. I said they didn't offer me any good deals and told her I was moving to O2 simplicity (£20/month, no contract, 600 mins, 1000 texts, and a bolt on).

She first offered my a choice of a nokia phone or sony ericsson c902, 500 mins, unlimited texts for £22/month. This is much better than last months offers. I use 350-450 mins and 100-150 texts/month.

I said that was too expensive and I didn't need a new phone so was happy to go with the O2 sim only deal.

She then said £20/month on an 18 month contract. I said I didn't want to be tied in for that long. She then agreed to 12 months.

I definitely don't need unlimited texts and maybe could have bargained harder for a lower price or more talk minutes. But I was on my way out and honestly spent so much time going nowhere last month that getting a bit of extra money off wasn't worth it! Still better than my current deal of £35/month for 400 mins, 400 texts, and £5 downloads.

Also this was a foreign call centre that managed to come up witrh this deal so i am now really confused about how they work!

    Lol.

  • Well, absolutely zilch from them for me:mad: (2nd year with them too, and holding 2 contracts, till I cancelled one recently due to the change in policy re minutes).

What is worse I reckon they have chucked me onto P+G 48hrs too early:mad:  so watch out!

My contract was due to end 19/9 and on 17/9 I was P+G.....30 days notice given by letter as I was out of the country at the time so arrived "early" and they started the count down from then, except, as all my "my 3" info about the old contract has gone I can't immediate check it.

Funny how they tie to in to the final day if you want out but if they want rid they just turn it off....

Called "retentions" and was offered (whoop de doo) that he could allow me the refer a friend money off a new contract (just my side of it mind..).

Sadly I might end up sticking with 3.
  • after a lot of trying been offered.

    250 mins/50txt for £12 per month.
    £18month contract
    with a handset (not nokia n95 8gb)

thought i could do better - any ideas

I called for my pac code, told them I could get 200 minutes and unlimited texts from orange for £20 so he offered me 400 minutes, unlimited texts and a C902 for £25, told him it was too expensive which he took great offence too and said how can it be too expensive as I'd be getting more minutes and a C902, told him I wouldn't use the minutes and didn't want a C902.

Finally got my PAC after repeating 'give me my PAC code please' over and over again until he stopped talking.

Will wait and see if they come up with anything, it'll have to be amazing to make me want to stay after all the trouble I've had with them.

They have done better deals this month, but what criteria they use to decide who gets them is a mystery.

eg. 400mins/100 texts/2000 extra mins plus nokia 6500 slide on 12 months for £5 a month.
