mmmm, not sure whether to take their latest offering...

    Free N95 8gb
    1100 mins/txts
    300 3 to 3 mins
    2000 landline mins
    Unlimited vmail & skype
    90 video mins
    £35/mo - 18months

    Is this a good deal?

    (current contract is:
    900 mins/txts
    £26.25/mo
To continue this, they want to charge me £25 for a N95 8gb, and tie me in for 18months...)
  • i'm still using the deal i got offered at the last minute from 3, £10 a month for 500 mins and 100 texts. i'd like to balance it out more next year, say 300 of each, like the o2 simplicity deal as its monthly so not tied in.

I got this deal and wish I didn't take it !, 100 texts is no good to me, totally agree that I wish it was more balanced, infact I would prefer 100 mins and 500 texts.

on another account I got (and accepted) £5 for 500 mins and 100 texts, which I am happy with, as for £5 it represents good value.

Deals are really poor compared to last year. Last year I was hounded by the retentions team and I got the Talk and Text 600 (500 mins and 100 Texts) for £10 per month with a £30 credit, effectively making the the monthly line rental £7.50 per month.

This year I had to call them and asked to be put through to cancellations. I did get through to the Scottish call centre - but I know this probably wasn't the team with the great deals- they have to call you (as what happened to me last year).

During the call she tried to push me on to these mix and match products, saying I would lose the '£20' discount for life that I have on the Talk and Text 600, but I could get a better phone. No good so I proceeded with the cancellation. That was back in August and with only a couple of days to go, I haven't received 'the call'.

I admitted defeat and called yesterday to reverse my cancellation. I need a new phone so I kept the Talk and Text 600 for £10 pm, and got the Nokia 3120 classic (doesn't look too snazzy, but when I remember some of the handsets three used to offer - there is a definite improvement!). I also got the unlimited/free voicemail (which wasn't offered in August). This was all on a 12 month contract - the person I spoke to said he couldn't offer anything better for an 18 month tie in - but still had the cheek to ask me if I wanted to have the 18 month contract when 12 was on offer .

I didn't really want to cancel my contract this year as the allowance really suits my usage pattern and I'm not paying ridiculous line rental costs - £10 is ok (the £5 deal some people got would have been great but oh well, it wasn't offered to me). I don't know where I'd get a comparable new contract for no more than £10 - In previous years I confidently used the cashback system for what was effectively free line rental but with all the trouble people have had with companies not paying up, even when they take them to court I wouldn't touch cashback deals with a bargepole.

We will see what happens next year. Good luck to all!

I think that is pretty good value for everything you are getting - however, like anything, it only represents good value if you will genuinely make use of all the extras - like maxing out the landline minutes when you are out and about, using the skype and the video minutes.

If you are pretty good on the 900 mins/txts at the moment, it could be effectively £10 extra for nothing. I would definitely go for it though if I was going to genuinely max out the allowance on all those things!

just been looking at reviews for the new N96 - I might hang on a couple of weeks until that is released. It looks like an awesome phone, or it might bring down the price of the N95...
  • I agree with what opas is saying. It depends on your usage, if your current contract is perfectly adequate for your usage then the one-off charge of £25 is not a lot to pay :) However to pay £35 for a contract if you don't think you are going to get full usage out of it - that's a different matter plus the fact that an N95 is a high-end phone - do you think you need all those features, or could you save yourself a bit extra and go for a phone which you are more likely to use to the fullest?

On to my situation, gave up - used my PAC code so my number should be with T-mobile in 3 days :) So hopefully no need to look back - just need to look into cancelling my other contracts with three now...

Requested & received PAC on 19 Aug.
3 have tried to call me three times but unfortunately i missed the calls and they didnt leave a message.

From your experience Will they call me again this week?
should i call them? looking for a £5 or £10pm deal.

    cheers for any ideas
  • Hi All

I'm a long time lurker but throught I'd join to let you all know the deal that 3 have offered me.

I phoned up to get my PAC code but decided to go along with the upgrade as they offered me:

    500 xnet minutes
    unlimited texts
    unlimited internet
    free N95 8GB

for £25 a month inc VAT

Seemed a decent deal so thought I'd go for it. What do you guys think?? I do use a lot of internet and a lot of texts at present so seems like a decent deal for me. I managed to haggle from £27 to £25 by saying I wasnt happy and still wanted my PAC code.

If even that didn't work, decent retention deals with 3 are obviously not going to be easy to come by.

Personally, I've given up on the idea that they're going to call me (contract ends on Monday) and have decided to go elsewhere.

Meanwhile, my wife will be giving notice on her contract this weekend. On the off-chance she's offered something good, I'll post it here.
My contract has now ended with no attempt by 3 to call me and convince me to stay.

My wife called them and, like me, was offered nothing better than new customers get.

    Cheerio, 3 mobile.
Started comping for 2012. Won: iPad 2 - thanks SueMaggie; 10,000 Tesco Clubcard Points - thanks Maybe1; HABA Terra Kids Construction Set - thanks purplevamp.
