3 Retention Deals

Hi, My contract with 3 for my N73 (Direct Talker, 750 minutes, 150 texts, £5 downloads 50 MMS, 50 Video calls) which I took out last March for £17.50 a month (9 months promo price) and now pay £35 a month for is up on the 29th Sept.
I called today (31st) to cancel. I had to literally FIGHT with the guy on the phone to get him to cancel the contract. In the end, he converted it to Pay as you Go, effective the 30th September. I didn't get a PAC code. My last bill / direct debit will apparently be 21st October.
Does this sound right? I'm interested in the PC like phones - blackberry, Iphone -and I am interested in 3's version - the E71. He offered me £21 for the same tarriff I'm on now, on a 12 month contract. I remember reading here about the secret retention calls after you cancel, which is why I didn't accept.
Do you guys think I'll get a call from retentions with a better deal? This is my first contract and while I'm not opposed to taking out a contract on an iphone, I would be tempted to stay with 3 and get an E71 if the line rental is low enough!0 -
Been waiting for a new phone for ages so didn't have the patience to wait another month for retentions to call so accepted the offer I got when I phoned for my pac today. I probably could have got a lot better since she gave me the internet and extra texts without batting an eyelid!
Samsung soul free, 12 month contract, 300 minutes, 3000 texts, 512mb free internet, 25 mms, 25 video calling and £5 downloads for £20/month.
Was only offered mix and match 300 for £22/month on an 18th month contract on Sat when I phoned upgrades (they had a go at me and told me this offer was ending soon and I couldn't get any better. I checked today and that did end, now it's £2/month cheaper!).
I'm happy anyway, there's no way I could have got anywhere near that on a 12 month contract anywhere else without messing about with cashback claims0 -
I just phoned asking for the offer you got but they never budged so told them to stick it0

Anyone know which is better N95 8GB or SE C902.
I prob want to be offered one of these with as many minutes/texts as possible.
Thanks,

I'd rather eat my own poo than have another samsung. Especially the oversensitive touchy ones that revert to the home screen as your almost finished on a text and dont save it.0 -
just succumbed to a N95 8gb with 500 mins xnetwork and unlimited (3000) texts at £22 per month for 18 months.
Is this any good or should I have held out for more?0 -
Should have held out for better, they offered me that for £18pm before I even got my pac code. The offers have got better since, though I still haven't accepted one yet.0

exel1966 - what other better deals have you been offered?
I tried to cancel mine and they told me the phone has already been sent.
If I refuse to take it will it ruin the chances of me improving my deal?0 -
The evening is obviously not the best time to ring up cancellations. Been trying to get in contact to speak to get my PAC.
Spent 40mins waiting, and then the line just went dead.
Now 30 mins into the second call and still no answer. Pretty poor if you ask me, they were never this bad 2/3 years ago.Student Moneysaving Expert :beer:0
