The people you speak to when you call them just lie to you. There ARE deals to be had, but you have to give your notice and wait for THEM to call YOU. It's a game of chicken!

Odd, I just rang 3 to cancel due to my Half price deal coming to an end. The guy on the other end was rather arrogant, when i said that I didn't want to pay £35 per month, he suggested I looked for a better deal.
I said I had found one @ o2 which suited me fairly well 1000mins on PAYG for £15 per month. He didn't even try to offer me anything, just said he would cancel it and I will receive a final bill. Odd. I wonder whether they'll do a follow up call trying to get me to stay.
Need to get myself a PAYG sim though, since off to sweden with 2 weeks time, so would be good to have a way of people contacting me without getting charged for it.

Ben1982 - In few days you will receive call from 07782333333 offering you off the website rubbish and "you won't find it anywhere" lifetime 250 mins /100 texts for £5 with no phone just to keep your number within network. They won't be flexible and won't offer you any discount on your current tariff, won't scale the £5 offer to - say - double that - 500 mins for £10 or anything like that and keep agresively shoving £5 deal down your throat using "maybe someone in your family could use it" argument. Don't budge and just refuse it (unless of course it's good enough for ya).

Unfortuately for them, it seems they follow very strict timeline tactics as descibed many times in this thread. In my case 250 minutes is just not enough, what they offered on 500 minutes was few quid worse than what I'm on at the moment and I won't wait for the next two calls from retension as the O2's £20 600mins/1000texts/unlimited web exprires in two days and it's too good offer to let go. But if you have time, keep refusing, the offers they will come up with in last few days of your 30 day notice will probably be the best.

The O2 offer is SIM only, 600 mins and unlimited texts according to the web site.

That's a great deal but far more minutes and texts than I'd ever need.

Also, not sure how much it costs to unlock the three phone?

600 mins and unlimited texts bolt-on can be swapped around for unlimited web (still leaving 1000 texts to use). Yes, it's SIM only, but then again it's 30 days rolling contract. One would think it's not difficult to beat for three condsiering it's wasn't so long ago M&M1100 was offered for £21. But they don't want to, so what can I do.

I see, so effectively I can have 800 minutes and 1000 texts for £20 a month

I note that quite a few people who have the cohones to hang on until the last day of their notice period are offered 250 mins and 50 texts for £5 a month.

Is this the 300 mix and match plan?

I need about 200 texts a month, perhaps more

No - it is a 250 mins/50 texts plan (they sometimes offer discontinued tariffs on retentions deals), hence if you know tou use more than 50 texts but not that many minutes, you end up paying out more each month.
