3 Retention Deals

That's the same spiel I got. You cant cancel AND get a PAC. He can issue a PAC that is valid for 30 days, and I can use it tomorrow, and when I use it my contract with three is terminated, but I still have to pay for the rest of the 30 days notice period.
Exactly that. I was also told that once I requested my PAC (post contract cancellation) the 30 day notice would start again. I assumed that the guy was talking rubbish and continued with the cancellation. Can anyone confirm if 3 are actually correct?0 -

2007 Competition Challenge: Target £150

Therefore the best way is to give 30 days notice to cancel the contract and request that the sim be turned into payg. When the contract is ended, the sim is payg, and you are no longer being charged, you can request a pac, which does not take long anyway, and you can then transfer your number to an alternative network.0 -
3 are correct. Requesting a pac during the 30 days notice on the contract restarts the 30 day notice period.

Thanks, emc. If I don't hear from 3 by the beginning of next week, I'll contact them and ask to be switched to PAYG once my 30 days cancellation notice is up.0 -
I gave my 30 days' notice and was offered a £12 per month contract (with some handset, can't remember which) again and again, even though I kept telling them I can now only budget £5 per month for my mobile phone (I'm on a £35 per month contract now which I hardly use - Coolnewmobile cashback fell through! Bad choice!) They are idiots. The retention person told me I could think about it for a few hours, and I told her an extra £7 per month isn't going to magic itself in the next few hours!
A couple of days later, after being offered the £12 deal a few times again by different retention staff, they suddenly DID have a £5 offer for me (200 minutes, 50 txts, no handset). I said I'd have to think about it, and he said it was an on-the-spot offer, so I told him I'd have to decline but thanks. Then he said he COULD give me time to think about it, when would be a good time to call back? Hah. So I did think about it, and decided I'd rather be on Orange's PAYG. I wonder if they'll try again...
Moral of the story? On-the-spot offers aren't necessarily on-the-spot offers. Other offers probably are forthcoming, even if they say they don't have anything else to offer. They will pester you, but you might as well answer each call as it's usually a different person who does not seem to know what you told previous callers.0 -

Having been three times promised a call back and not received one I finally stopped beating around the bush and asked directly for cancellations dept. I got transferred to someone that spent 20 minutes arguing at me. I said I can get a cheaper line rental AND a new phone with another network. I dont need a new phone, so I'd prefer a cheaper line rental than that. She asked where I am seeing another network with less than £15 a month line rental. I said Virgin, and she IMMEDIATELY said 'im looking at the virgin web site now and there are no deals that that offer you a phone as well'. What a blatant lie!! She also said 'three have no deals that offer you a cheaper line rental'. Well I know that's not true, so I said so. She got even more uppity, but I just said that there is no point carrying on this conversation if you are going to lie to me. I KNOW i can get a new phone and £12 a month line rental for 150 mins and 150 texts - the same effectively as the three 300 mix and match tariff. Ho hum, so I have managed to give my notice early, thanks to the per minute billing thing. Lets see if anyone calls me before then!0 -

Not sure why that came up twice.
One thing I forgot to say was that t-mobile simply offered me a line rental reduction instead of a phone the year before last. Why are three so precious? Clearly giving out handsets is a better deal for them than allowing people £120 a year line rental discount.0 -
Are three offeing any good deals at the moment? I spoke to some chap in cancelations and I could get no joy out of him at all.. Everything that he came up with was either advertised in the news paper or on the web site.. Took me ages to finally get my PAC code from him.. I asked for a line only,no phone contract but he said they had stopped doing them.. Buthe also told me they had stopped doing the 750 minute/unlimited txts for £25.. I had got the newspaper in front of me with it in but he was having none of it.. My pac runs out on the 20th of September.. Will three phone offer a better deal? I was going around in circles with the last chap..sometimes you're the pigeon, sometimes you're the statue!0
