3 Retention Deals

I called them on behalf of my sister last night to get her upgrade.
The specific thing she wanted was the 12 month plan with 500 mins and unlimited texts for £25 per month along with the Nokia N95 or Sony W890i.
The first thing they kept doing was trying to change the choice of price plan to something much higher and not as suitable, as she needs the unlimited texts. I said she didn't want this but they still carried on, even in the process telling me to 'just listen to what they had to say'.
In the end, quite disillusioned with their lack of competence and attitude on the phone, I asked for a manager, explained the price plan and phone I wanted, and was given the Sony W890i free of charge with £5 per month off for 12 months for the inconvenience.
So my suggestion is to always to go higher and ask for a manager, it works for me!0 -
Has anyone cancelled the upgrade after accepting it and have 3 then offered a better deal after you gave the notice for termination?
I accepted the £ 5a month deal without a phone but I need a phone with the upgrade and they are offering me the rubbish deals like SE K660 on £13-15 a month deal with 300mins.0 -
Just rang to cancel my contract 500mins 100txt.
Was offered 500mins Unlimted texts on a SE C902 or a Nkia 6220 or a SE C910i - £22 incl pm!
Doesn't sound that good to me and I know nothing about the phones.
Is it any good ?0 -

I got offered the same plan for £20pm and a 3000text bolt on with a nokia n95 gb. I was on the phone for only 22mins. I would try and get more txts out of them if you will use them and/or a more expensive phone than the 62200 -
Last May i got a SE new phone and £312 credit to my bill on a 18 month contract from July 07 (as an early upgrade offer) . Only started paying my bills in March because of the credit and now got out of my contract with the 59 sec rule 5 months early.
My advise wait to the last min as someone might call you to upgrade with a good offer!!0 -
The day has come, my 18months on VT500 + 75 texts @ £20 are almost over. Called scottish call centre to see what's the best they could do against O2's current offer of 600 minutes/1000 texts/unlimited internet for £20 and the lady on the other side said they could not do anything to try and match that. Asked what's the best they could do in general, considering my bills often hit £45 mark - 700 minutes/unlimited texts, no internet plus C902 for £25. Plus £1 intemised billing. Refused and asked to be called by retension team. "I am the retention team" she said "please wait while I generate your PAC code"... O2, here I come then...0

They must be cracking down. They must have an outbound team to call people who have handed their notice in like other companies do.0

For the record: I've just taken delivery of TyTyn with 500 m&m units, 90 video, 2000 landline minutes, internet access. £24 per month. 18 month contract. Given that the handset is just what i need for work I'm v happy.0

I made a call today and didnt get far. I refused all offers of a new Sony Ericsson W660i, because if I'm going to get a new handset I want one smaller than the K610i that I have now, such as the W890i.
I said that I was unhappy about the per minute billing, and he said I could cancel and get a Pac code, so I said I'd do that unless he could beat the Virgin £12 deal of 150mins and 150 texts, which as a low user is plenty for me and is almost the same as three's 300 mins OR texts plan at £15.
He said someone would call me back. No one has yet.
I want to stick with Sony as the cameras on them seem to be the best, and I dont get on with Nokias. As for Samsung, i'd rather eat my own poo.0 -
Is it better to phone and cancel or write to them?
Or both?
I doubt I want a new contract, mine actually ended last august and I just let it carry on, didn't upgrade or anything cos I had a lot on my mind at the moment.
I just want to cancel and go onto PAYG on either O2 or Orange and don't need a new phone. I never get my moneys worth with a contract.0
