Hi anna
That sounds like a really good find.
We actually have a long running thread that's packed full of hints, tips and support ready for the coming Christmas and so I'll add your post here onto the end of it to keep the information all in one place.

My dh and I had the same problem with Nationwide a while back, but was told that as long as the money was counted up correctly in the little plastic "change bags", they would accept it into our savings account. Just ask for these bags at the till/desk in your branch, and they are usually happy to give them out. Also if your bank will not accept this for your savings account, try paying it in to your current account and either directly transfer, or draw out and pay into your savings account. If you don't ask, you don't get. And I know banks aren't the most "giving" and would not normally inform you of this. The name Ebenezer rings a tiny bell...0 -
Last year for a few female friends and relations I bought each of them plate decorated with a Christmas character. They were £2.99 each in TK Maxx and were dinner plate size. I also bought each one a matching themed cookie cutter and wrapped them up together with this poem
I made a plate of cookies to share with you this year
I thought it was a good way to spread some Christmas cheer
They all looked really tasty, so I thought I'd eat just one
And a little while later, I noticed there were none.
So here's my Christmas greeting,
And a cookie cutter too,
Now you can make your own cookies,
And maybe share a few
Truely artisitic ones could paint and decorate their own, maybe children could do them for grandparents.
A recipe could also be included and even the ingredients, depending on how generous you're feeling!...it is not of more importance than daily life, which I have an enduring wish to make as useful and beautiful as possible.

I'm sure its been suggested elsewhere: buying a nice mug and filling it with a hot chocolate sachet/chocolates/marshmallows and wrapping the whole in cellophane..
thing is i was in boots earlier today (bargain hunting!) and they had their christmas gifts out, and i stopped to look - mugs like i've suggested above were going for £8!!!
i've seen in the local catalogue discount store (which is refurbishing) some really nice victorian kitchen mugs that have the word CHOCOLATE on, 2 mugs for £3, so i could get those and do the whole thing for a lot less than £8 - and thats without even shopping around for mugs...

Have to admit, I gave in and bought a November Prima yesterday - just for the Christmas supplement...!
Also, had to rush to Boots and pick up a Christmas catalogue - so I could spend hours poring over each page trying to decide which pressies to buy for everybody, using my Boots points...!!! :rotfl:
Loving Christmas here in the House of Piglet!

I went out and bought Prima too :rotfl: I'll probably end up buying a couple of magazines to do with Christmas this year as I love to pull the ideas out of them and file them in my Christmas Notebook (Same idea as a household notebook but using the Christmas Countdown from organizedchristmas.com
). I can then work on them whenever.
My mum usually buys a couple as well....maybe we should agree that mum buys the next Christmas related magazine then I'll buy the next and so on - we can then swap magazines and since I have a scanner I don't need to keep magazines just so I can rip out the article if mum asks for it back :j
Need to have a think about Christmas gifts with OH over the weekend. It's going to be TIGHT this yearCreeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0
