and this page has the star instructions... they're in Danish so I'll look for an english translation :) the size of the star is dictated by the size of paper/ribbon you use :)http://www.julidannevang.dk/klip/fletstjerne/fletstjerne.shtml

Just done a machine translation at the following website...

    http://beta.visl.sdu.dk/visl/da/tools/translation_da2en.php

    Not sure if it helps:)
point 6 is particularly interesting  :rotfl:

    1. Cut 4 strips of strings on each 30 cm more.
    2. Fold them up in the middle and cut the ends tilted of.
    3. Team the first strip horizontally and be glued the other strip to.
    4. The third strip is been glued to the other.
    5. The fourth strip is been glued to the third and the ends on the fourth strip stick's through the eye on the first strip
    6. flet the 4 strips into each other saw they create one square. Push them closely together. The the chewing tobaccos end have to turn the same road as in the picture, that lightens the plait.
    7. Bend one half of the first strip forward as shown.
    8. Intention with the other.
    9. The third.
    10. Lock at last with the fourth by leading it through the first folded strip.
    11. Bend the shortest end of the first strip.
    12. Unfold it tilted backwards and against the left, thus there arises a little triangle.
    13. Bend the same strip 90 degrees upwards, over the two horizontal strips.
    14. Intention with bending this strip over the two squares to the left. The first point is almost done.
    15. Bend the point a little back.
    16. Take the free end off the strip and before it through the lowest one of the left squares.
    17. Pull the strip completely, so that only the point is visible.
    18. Turn the half-done star a quarter- round as shown.
    19. Intention with making the same spits' on third third second and fourth strip. See point 11 to 18.
    20. Turn the star about, so that the back is at the top.
    21. Bend in the same way the four long strips.
    22. Turn again the star around. Bend the four stars end over the four squares in the middle, in opposite direction as shown.
    23. Bend the first strip 90 degrees to the left, this time forward.
    24. Bend the same strip up against the overlying strip. Put the free end of the strip under it opposite lying down strip, thus it come out through the triangle-point.
    25. Pulls cautious the strip to and form with the free hand a little conical point over the song-rate in the middle.
26 Repeat this with the three other strips. Turn the star and plait the other side in the same way. Cut at last the løses end of closely in to the small triangular points and the star is done.

Will have a go at matching the translations and pictures when I have a moment but now I really should go and get the washing on the line before it rains again - just looked out the window and I'm too late :(

    Update:
I've got the diagrams and the 'english' translations into a table in a word file but don't know how to post the table here (or even whether it would breach copyright). Going to print it out and take some paper strips to DD dance class and have a go while I'm waiting.

LOL try the US site I posted after the danish one lol

They look dead complicated but they're not really! Once you've done one you realise it's all pretty much repitition and then you start getting really quick at them lol!

I can do a fair few quite quickly and then I have a "snipping" session at the end where I trim all the excess paper or ribbon off :) means I get a real flow going :)

That tree looks lovely, I've had the instructions for those type of star decorations for a few years but not had a go yet! Will have to hunt it out, think it's in a folder somewhere, they always looked a bit complicated, but never really tried.

Actually I'm looking for any instructions or ideas for car organisers for kids, something to hang on the back of the front seats for books/drawing stuff/comics etc. I could probably work it out myself, but thought for quickness if there was something available, I've tried searching on the net but not come up with much really. I had seen some in a little leaflet I had through the post, but can't find it.

Thanks, I've also posted this on the wanna buy it or do it forum.

I make those heart shaped basket things :D I put little pressies in them...infact I've just had a brainwave of an advent thing I can do...make up 24/5 of these heart baskets, number them and put a little something (wrapped up) in them :D:D Until the tree is up, they can just be hung on the door by a pipecleaner :snow_grin

    :T

SO happy - just got a 19" monitor off Freecycle in absolutely brilliant condition - will make a brilliant Christmas present for my 12 year old nipper - cos it's free and massive! Plus i've got an old monitor box to put it in - and he's still at the age where a big pressie on his pile will get him jumping.

Cheers OS, would never have heard of Freecycle if it wasn't for you guys :j
