No justification needed. You just request to close on the options when you’re logged in.

I can’t justify it despite only having one Issue 4. Any 6 month account opened this month will mature in August (with Monmouthshire) which I don’t need. I will take the Issue 5 as it’s fixed and will mature about three weeks earlier, so can be used to fund August before the likely £12.5K becomes available.

Did they notify you when your RS was closed or did you have to login to find out?

Nope, nothing.

i would just leave them if I was in your position. If you close them you will only be able to open 1 more issue 4. You could open sn issue 5 and then try to mature your issue 4s into issue 5s.
These 6 month accounts only generate around £20 of interest, so there is not much benefit either way.
i have 4 issue 4s, 2 maturing next month, so I will just let them run.6 -
@ shirley999 - I'm in the same boat as you and to close PBS 2 fully funded x 6mth issue 4 accounts ( 2 & 3 maturity merges) and then attempt to open a single issue 4 while already holding another 6mth issue 4 maturing in June, certainly doesn't work for me as I know I won't be able to get another issue 4 due to the T&C's restriction as I've already tried with other maturing products in late December. I will certainly be giving trying to out run the PBS RS 'issue' train a miss and am happy to wait for the 6mth RS Issue 5😋

Same as you, mine had 3 and 5 weeks to run. Knowing that by the time they mature there's only going to be the option for 1 issue 5 was the reasoning. I've now got a new issue 4 and hopefully a new issue 5. I tried to get another issue 4 just before Christmas which was rejected and returned.

Principality
Thanks for everyone's answers, it's a hard one, and I'm still undecided.0 -
Principality indicate a fully funded saver will earn somewhere in the region of £25 and change at maturity. Without doing the maths, even if the funds would otherwise earn no interest (unlikely I hope!) I can't see how it'll make more than a tenner's difference either way.
I really wouldn't worry too much about it.

Principality
I noticed some posts here recently saying they weren't receiving their passcodes. Did it resolve itself or did you have to contact Principality, as I've been trying to log on for the last hour and am not receiving the passcode?
