Just bit the bullet and closed mine….says ‘within 1 business day’ and ‘date to be moved’ is showing as today (6th).

I have both an Principality 6 month issue 3 and 4 maturing on 28th Feb (long story as to how I have both on same date) and a barely funded issue 4 in May, plus I have more than one Christmas 2026 saver. I could close the two issue 4 accounts and open a fresh one before it goes NLA, but have decided to go for the option of keeping my head down as closing early is a manual intervention at head office, and I don't think I want them to look at my whole portfolio.

“HelloThank you for your secure message. That was quick. Principality are great aren’t they! Once I get the funds I’ll open a fresh Issue 4.

Following my earlier posts, with the rumoured Principality Issue 5 coming soon, I’ve closed my Issue 4 that was due to mature on 28th Feb, with a pretty impressive timeline this morning…….
09:11 Requested account closure.
09:31 Secure message received confirming account closed. Still showing on login.
10:05 Checked again and account disappeared.
10:25 New Issue 4 opened and funded. As expected, COP check failed.
11:15 £1226.14 credited to my Bank account.
11:15 Checked and earlier £200 deposit showing on new Issue 4.Principality continue to be my favourite RS provider.

Virgin regular saver - I tried via the app and via online but in the end I had to ring up to get the old account closed - assistant waited while I transferred out the last £1 - otherwise no issues and a new Virgin regular saver opened yesterday
Zopa - my reg saver is due to mature in 2 weeks time so I will just have to lump whatever they offer me at the time even if its just 6 months instead of 12 months. I have completed a survey form though regarding this - that I wanted another 12 months.
Cambridge - extra reward saver matured today - maturity went into my current account followed by an additional random 59p - probably some weird accountancy fluke.
But I now have the funds ready for when Mansfield cash the cheques and for next weeks exciting Principality events whatever they may be :)

Regarding Principality and the merits or demerits of closing and reopening ..
I have a regular saver bond issue 36 which matures in April and OH also has regular saver bond issue 36 which matures at the end of March (- I know its only offering 4.85% so not the best compared to the 6 months and Christmas savers but 4.85% is still better than nothing.)
Pondering weather to close these issue 36 accounts (rather than waiting for maturity) and then reopen while the regular saver bond issue 36 is still an option.
At least then that would move maturity forward another 10 months
- by some quirk OHs dwindling supply of Principality accounts all maturing in either March or April (apart from a couple of Christmas saver and one issue 4 ) so whatever next weeks Principality new offerings are they will be appreciated

Have done the same as others with Principality Issue 4. As I have an easy access account which I keep open with a couple of pounds, asked for proceeds to be moved into that. Received notification that account was closed, opened new one and transferred £200 from the EA account. 20 minutes in total.

Two issue 4s closed, new one opened and funds sent from external account ignoring COP failure. Just waiting on return of funds from the closed accounts.
ETA funds received. Took under an hour from request

This is what I'm pondering doing, how did you justify it to yourself, please? Mine are 3 and 5 weeks from maturity, each having the full amount in.
