Does anyone know if it's possible to get the RBS switch deal for the 7% saver if one already has the equivalent NatWest account?

If you've never had a switch reward from any NWG bank then yes.

Ah, bother, I had a NatWest one in Jul 23.

Many have been paid out by all three banks NatWest, RBS and Ulster. Don't know if it's still the case, but they weren't good at picking up bonuses paid from banks within the group.

@TomJ - if it helps, I have an existing current account and Digital Regular Saver with NatWest, but had never banked with RBS directly - I opened a Select account with RBS in February using the 7% switch offer and was able to open their 7.01% version of the Digital Regular Saver without any issue.
it will pay the usual 5.25% until the switch bonus is confirmed and then it changes to 7%… also, contrary to what the terms state (and on p1 here), the increased RS rate for me lasts until the end of June 2027, so about 16 months rather than 12.

But is it worth the effort …
Our loyalty regular savers mature on May 3rd. Interest rate is only 4.85% and variable so not the most exciting … I am still undecided wether to start another … the only advantage being cashflow to have accounts maturing in May 2027 to pay the following months regular saver.
I've got standing orders going through on May 1st which I might as well cancel as the account matures on the Sunday ..

That's what happened to me - disappeared from view day before maturity on 7th May, I opened new RS straight away and on the 8th I had funds in my EA and £300 went to new RS. I was surprised.

@ TomJ - I had a Natwest Switch deal in '24, but if you read the details of both the switch & opening the Natwest Digital RS@7.01%, NatWest inform current customers of how to receive both the switch and new Digital RS (at the bottom of the T&C's, or it was). In March '26, I applied for a switch to NatWest with a confirmed switch date. 2 days before the switch I closed my 'old' NatWest Current account and 'old' Digital RS Saver (5.25%). The switch took place, I followed all the criteria in the T&C's and received the £150 switch bonus in my new NatWest Current Account, plus I was also able to open and fund a new Digital RS @7.01%.
**Obviously, the timing of closing your present Digital RS is vital. Close immediately after you've received interest; otherwise you won't receive that months interest, which will determin your switrch date if you intend to close your present RS@ 5.25% and open a new 7.01%

1st Direct
I've renewed these for several years so should know but…
No sign of matured funds in (existing) EA saver, nor of new RS.
No email acknowledgement of RS application (nor indeed anything else).
Normal for 1st Direct?

From what I remember, yes. Their communication is awful/non-existent and they're ridiculously slow compared to what we've come to expect from other providers.
