I don't understand how First Direct is one of the best banks at customer service. The only slower one I can think of is the Co-Op.

I completely agree. I think the customer service rating must be based on how the bank deals with the customer when they contact the bank.
My ideal is to never have to contact the bank because there is never an issue.

Yes, "customer service" is separated from "user experience" and basically relates to interactions with staff, and mostly through the lens of current accounts.

I can't recall receiving email acknowledgements of applications. The only RS related emails I got are "your Regular Saver Account will be closing soon".

Your Regular Saver account is about to reach maturity, which is when you’ll get all that hard-earned interest you’ve been waiting for all year. If it were a person, it’d be starting to grow a little moustache.
Much rather have my £3.5k in a timely manner than witty bon mots.

nothing you can do to expedite the setting up of the new regular saver, but if you ask them they'll make your matured funds available to you immediately.

Yes, thanks for that. I'm more annoyed with myself than the bank for not remembering that FD are not exactly speedy. I'd expected to be able to pay some commitments with these funds today and have had to shoggle some around from elsewhere.
