With First Direct you can go overdrawn by thousands, without a fee if account is in credit by 23.45pm same day.
Done this quite a few times for 5k a time, on the 1st of the month.
To fund my reg savers.

A small Nationwide branch is literally next door, so it took only a few steps to depost the cheque.

Re: Dudley BS - for those who have opened a Dudley RS by email and are awaiting the welcome letter, having received mine today it is worth noting that their postal accounts seem to use a different account number than their online accounts - which explains why it was failing CoP (as I was using their society online account number).
- Online Account No: 10001016
- Offline Account No: 10001008
sort code is the same for both, so you just need your account number to be used as a reference/roll for sending deposits - if you already have online access, you should likely see your RS account visible there before receiving the letter.

Given that the regular saver only pays 3% I don't think there will be queues outside the branch tomorrow morning. However it is a welcome addition for the local community following branch closures of most major high streeet banks.

I was in your position precisely one week ago and I opened the new regular saver 'today', ie once the regular saver had matured and one day before maturity. I paid the funds in 'today' but it wasn't opened till 'Friday' (all one week ago). So the account has slipped by one day. I actually raised it with them this morning that I wasn't happy my £300 was left sitting around for 2 days, which they noted. What a good idea to arrange an overdraft but would that cost money?

I've tried in the past to get an answer to 'what if' funds weren't there and couldn't get a straight answer. I wonder if they are consistent with this or you're a trusted customer.

I received an invitation for this event, but it is too far from where I am. Otherwise I would turn up to show a support. I like Ecology BS.

I still have this regular saver. I used to use it for DD for a number of years, don't deposit anymore but still have £10.62 there (not for speculative reasons). I like the content of their newsletters and always fill their questionnaires which are quite different from other providers' surveys😀 I also welcome the introduction of app.

I've been looking at their website, and it looks like you can't actually open any saving branch base accounts. Got to go via app or online.
So don't really see a need for a physical branch at least for saving accounts.
But it is good for the local area like you said. Even if the rates are a bit flat.
