No, I don't have storage heaters. I do have a smart meter

Why are you on an economy 7 tariff? What heating do you have?

We have a GSHP and UFH, plus solar panels and batteries. We end up using 86% of our electricity at the lower rate.

Also, doesn't some of our gas come from Qatar, so via the Strait of Hormuz?

I have enough information to make the "fix now" decision. I've pressed the button and I get:
Starts from 12:00 AM, 14th Apr 2026
Electricity
Day rate 28.96p per kWh
Night rate 10.00p per kWh
Standing charge 44.51p per daySo I don't pay the higher rate in March which I somehow thought I was going to. I think I'm good and if a lower rate comes along I will jump on that.
Thanks folks!

Have you had a look at the Cosy tariff for heat pumps? The cheap rate is around 14p and the times for this are 4-7am, 1-4pm and 10-12pm. This gives you 3 slots to fill up your battery.
We usually manage 96-98% of use at cheap rate with this tariff

A nice idea, but with E7 at 10p/29p and 85% at the cheap rate, their composite rate is under 13p so Cosy with a 14p cheap rate will end up costing more.
