The fix they are offering me in my account works out about 50p a month cheaper than my current one which ends in April, with the s/c up a small amount and the unit rate down a small amount, I was hoping for at least a quid (ultra low user) but look at it the other way, I managed to get a half decent fix for the last twelve months and can continue, more or less, at the same rates until something better turns up. NB, am looking at the adjusted rates from April onwards rather than current rates for March

FEB Fix v7 alas is not great but possibly better than when/if we see a Mar V1. For anyone on Nov V3 or Feb V6 the rates should look pretty good come 1st April.

I'm new to this so please bear with me if my question is dull.

The rates offered are higher than my current rates but the April rates are lower - should I switch now? (as presumably the March rates will be higher still and the April rates associated with those will be correspondingly higher?)

That's one of those Dirty Harry "do you feel lucky" questions!

Well. You don't have long on your current fix left.

A new fix currently Feb V7 has no exit fee so if something comes along cheaper in the next 12 months you could always jump (that's primarily what this chat is here for).

You could wait if you think gas prices are going to come down, but I suspect (admitting I'm no commodity expert) they are more likely to go up. While our gas does not pass through the Straights of Hormuz plenty of the worlds liquid gas does. It's reasonable to think any extended shipping closure will impact open market price. Octopus and everyone else buy energy on the open market.

You should of course go to a comparison site and check what other fixes are available, remembering any that do have putative exit fees they really are more of a definite fix.

How long Feb V7 will be available is a factor and we just dont know, could be really soon.

UncleK do you have storage heaters and a smart meter? Have you considered Snug Octopus?
