No need for special delivery.  Just gives them an excuse to not take it. First class with proof of postage is sufficient.

You've not said what make or model of battery Tomatopia supplied, but most LFP batteries are happy charging at temperatures down to freezing or slightly below. Pylontech, for example, quote their charging temperature range as 0 - 50 degrees C.
You've said that your battery is at +5 C which should be fine for charging. Unless it's significantly different to other LFP batteries, I don't think low temperature is the root cause of your problems.

Soluna LV Model. Battery is currently at 72% +5 C nd it's -2 C here. 52.5V 0A and it's in free mode. It charged up 9% last night at a rate of 310W for 6.5 hours. The SOH had gone from 99% to 98% overnight as on Friday and it's now on 91% - so that's a hell of a drop.

I used to get a Red "fault" when I tried to pull any power above the base load (340ishW) but now I just get The Green "Online" status. This only happens when the temp drops. Most of today I had over 2KW coming in but only 341W was going to the battery and 400W to the house - the rest was just going to the grid as the battery can't take any more due to the temps. I had thought about putting a little heater in there on the days of good sun to see if it charges better without me spending kWh to gain kWh

It will be this way until March and that's rubbish. I have some Fogstar Drift's sat out in the snow and they are working just fine charging with a IP67 Victron charger. But they have heaters in - as I thought this did too!
  • I am new to the forum and have the same issues as others .we had our system installed in march last year by NGH but were never switched over from octopus to tomato .that said we have not paid any monthly payments fortunately.we have the same issues as others at mo with 340 watt input to battery I have enquired about MCS certificate of installation and was told it is registered to NGH ?? Last September while we were away our front camera picked up a interesting video .2 guys turned up in plain working clothes and plain transit van they acted very suspicious looking around the property .BUT they were on behalf of something to do with tomato energy as this was picked up by there conversation on there phone to there office .we have not seen them since but my suspicion is they were there to remove equipment on behalf of NGH as probably they have never been paid for the installation by tomato energy

I am glad to see it's not just me. I've seen other peope's batteries failing and mine is starting to drop the State of Health at an alarming rate. Porbably due to plating trying to charge it in cold weather. I've turned mine off now to charge at night. I was also told the MCS is not my concern as I don't own the system. Some people have paid for MCS and DNO stuff on equipment which is not theirs, seems silly to me! Mine was never registered with the DNO and they had no idea it was here, great if someone was working on the network and suddenly got electrocuted, that I am told would fall on me.. no.. just no.

I'm in the process of having the battery and inverter removed, and then I will just return it to NGH directly. I am happy to buy the panels, but the inverter was second hand when I got it - and the battery is just rubbish. Mine was also installed in March (4th) and yes it was greart during summer, It was already heavily used.

Does not suprise me about them not paying - they never paid the scaffolding company and people have shown proof they were only having theirs taken away "When we get paid for it mate"

I called NGH on Friday and was told they would get back to me.. Mind you I also told them 2 months ago by e-mail that the kit was being removed and they had till today to come and get it themselves..

Still heard nothing - so on we go! I just wanrt it sorted out so I can move on with my plans.

I would doubt that would be the motivation as NGH bought the equipment using a loan from Tomato, and both NGH and Tomato are owned by Senapt anyway...

  • I didn't know NGH was part of the senapt group .but yes you are right on that . companies house are also showing accounts overdue on NGH .a right minefield.

Well All I get told is "I will pass it on and someone will get back to you" The last time was December 16th - before than Novemnber the 9th.

So as I said above - their battery is now sat in a shed in a black sack waiting for collection. They are welcome to take it all but I am selling up and moving in 5 weeks so they have till then.

Solicitor has sorted it all in Conveyancing.

Senapt comms/senapt limited /northerngasheating accounts being overdue- this is bad? NGH seem to have 0 interest in getting their gear. They just holding out till the end? I've read the whole Fine/criminal offence/possible dissolvement on CH website. But just wanted to ask.

I assume Farouk has left chat, literally?

It isn't good, but in general the whole group has a poor track-record of meeting their statutory filing obligations so it is not the first time they have been late with one or more of their entities.
