EDF FreePhase Dynamic Tariff

Looking at the wholesale prices, unit rates for tomorrow should be MUCH better than those seen recently…

Only just moved from the FreePhase Dynamic to Static. Kind of wondering whether that was the right decision now…. Only time will tell I suppose.

Quite a relief to see that tbh. Haven't been on it long and have certainly been questioning my decision in recent days!
The rather high (but by no means disastrously so) rates for the last few days would appear to be mainly due to the very low wind power output which seems to be turning again.

An update re GMT/BST and the Red Amber & Green time slots.
I had yet another email from EDF CS today as follows.....
Hello Chris,I hope you are well.I’m getting in touch regarding some information you were provided about the FreePhase tariff time slots. You were previously advised that these would change with the clocks and be an hour ahead in BST. Unfortunately, this information was incorrect and I sincerely apologise that this was provided to you, and for any confusion caused.I can confirm that the time slots will remain the same throughout the year and are not influenced by BST.If you have any questions or need further clarification, please do let me know.Kind regards,

The problem with both these statements is that, in my view, they can be read both ways - i.e. as saying that the time slots would follow BST in the summer, and also as stating that they would not follow BST in the summer!
I'm pretty certain that FreePhase follows whatever the observed UK civil time is, whether that be GMT or BST.
However it would be helpful if EDF established a clear and unambiguous form of words and made it available to their agents to use.
This isn't specific to EDF or even to electricity tariffs - I just think the language used in describing what time is being followed is almost inherently likely subject to confusion and misinterpretation unless it is carefully crafted so as to be crystal clear. (For example, I've wanted to write "the time that is being followed at that point in time" - I know what I mean, but on re-reading it aloud one can see such a statement is arguably clear as mud!)0 -
This is exactly the problem that always happens when entering into such discussions. One needs to make a distinction between staying the same in local time (clock time) and staying the same in GMT. Even better, make a statement like red pricing will be 4-7pm BST in the summer and 4-7pm GMT in the winter (as opposed to 5-8pm during BST).
The best solution of all would be to abolish clock changes.
