Just thinking conceptually about the FreePhase Static tariff - it's essentially a 12 month electricity-only fix, albeit with three ToU rates rather than one rate. I don't think there's really an equivalent tariff out there on the (domestic supply) market, whether from Octopus or anyone else?

In a sense there are some similarities to Economy 7 and Economy 10, but it's not the same thing.

I guess as time moves on there may be new versions of the Static tariff with revised rates, depending upon EDF's various calculations of the market in the coming year and based on real-world usage patterns?

Tomato Lifestyle Tariffs were similar ( and cheaper ) but sadly no longer with us. Assuming the reduction will apply to the FreePhase tariffs from April 1st Static would be very competitive in the current climate.

I've been trying to get the rates for my region via EDF (I know there are third-party sites too) and every time it comes up with a 'Sorry! We have a technical issue' page, including via that link.

A screenshot of EDF's website. There is a box outlined in red saying "Sorry, we have a technical issue Please get in touch at hello@edfenergy.com or call us on 0333 006 9950 – one of our energy specialists can help you get your new FreePhase tariff. We're open Monday to Thursday, 8am to 6pm, and Friday, 8am to 4pm." Underneath is an orange 'get in touch' button.

    It works for me London:

    Unit rates
    Green 17.87p per kWh
    Amber 23.37p per kWh
    Red 40.19p per kWh

    SC 39p

Quite different hours, but comparing these three periods to Oct Cosy - 13.5/27.5/41.5 and SC 45p, I feel like I can make more use of Cosy - 4-7am immersion heater, washings, then 13-16 cooking as well as boosted heating during these periods.

Or Good Energy HeatPump with 30p (also between 16-19) and 12p - probably the best out of these two.

    Currently showing on EDF's site:

Only Freephase Dynamic showing for me at the moment, no Static.

I tried IP postcode, looks as if Freephase Static has been suspended, not surprising.

I don't think there's really an equivalent tariff out there on the (domestic supply) market, whether from Octopus or anyone else?

"Tide" from 100Green (was Green Energy UK) is similar, with three fixed rates.

Other than that, you're looking at specialist tariffs like Cosy Octopus.

You managed to get in just under the wire for that, well done.

When you mentioned your desire to move from the Dynamic to the Static tariff, I had a little think about how my household might have managed under such a regime - basically minimising consumption between 4-7pm, running the washing machine and dishwasher overnight.

For me it was a hypothetical thought exercise as I don't currently have a smart meter, and my current elec fix is circa 24.5p/kWh. It'd be doable no doubt, but patterns of life are rather changeable and potentially subject to more shifting around in the coming year so essentially minimising cooking (electric oven and air fryer) during the evening could perhaps have been awkward at times.
