EDF FreePhase Dynamic Tariff

There should be a fall due to measures announced in the last budget I would think.
I have it in my head that around a 3p reduction per kW/h was forecast for a typical standard tariff, not sure how that will be reflected in this kind of tariff.1 -

I hope you’re right with a 3p per kWh reduction that would make £120 or so difference to me as I use over 4000kwh per year. They could do this through the formula, reduce the Standing Charge or both. Octopus Agile formulas could also change.

£75/£100 back on until 6th April.

On Feb 18th EDF produced a forecast for the next 12 months for FreePhase Dynamic Unit Prices
Green 13.26per kWh Amber 16.30 per KWh Red 28.15 per kWh
Presumably the above predictions for East Midlands region is taking into account the reduction in unit prices promised for April.1 -
Fab Sunday 😀 North West Region

I like how this prediction differs from the static version, which is about 30% more expensive. If these rates were on static I'd happily switch today :) Saying that, I will wait till April to see how other ToU tarriffs get affected by supposedly lower prices.

The static version of FreePhase is unchanged for now at.
Green 16.85p
Amber 21.71p
Red 35.46p
Both are Free when the Wholesale price is zero or negative
Dynamic previous estimates were
Green 14.47p ( now 13.26p )Amber 18.55p ( now 16.30p)
Red 31.47p ( now 28.15p )

I find the EDF Freephase Dynamic tariff interesting, and I've been glancing at the daily rates.
With there only being three price bands (the red, amber and green), it perhaps just feels like a more 'user friendly' version of the Octopus Agile tariff.
With such a simplification I suppose some pricing nuance is also lost, but I wonder if Freephase is maybe just a more attractive or digestable way of presenting a time-of-use tariff to many potential customers?2 -
It can be cheaper than Agile, the edge time slots like 5:30, 15:30, 19;00 etc. are cheaper - you lose though the lower values due to averaging.
But you don't have to calculate how many hours from now for the dishwasher to kick off to hit that perfect timing :)
I've been watching this tarrif for the past few months and while still on Agile it's only really been 5-10% cheaper.. I will soon reach the point of not being able to justify all that hassle 😅
