Also, please do not call this a fine, this is even more important when dealing with inept staff at hire/lease companies

Now do normal appeal straight away don't wait for the document
Put anything you feel like but dont use the template
    Dont mention keeper liability
Say something like the signs were bad. That is all
And put your name and address in the free text box
Annoying thing is that it's so long ago now I can't even remember what app or website I had to pay on. Situation was basically that I arrived, it was a barrierless multi storey. Usually in these I've had to buy a ticket. There was a machine but it didn't dispense tickets (ie wasn't pay and display). I couldn't understand it and am pretty sure it wasn't working. I was directed to use an app/online. I didn't have reading glasses, so got my son to do it 9he's 13) while I tried to talk him through it. We somehow paid for ten minutes (I think) and these were the ten minutes between us parking and paying.

My best guess is that it was a situation where you could pay at the end, in the same way you do on barrier car parks, and that we somehow paid for leaving when we thought we were paying ahead.

But like I say, it was a while ago and was serously confusing for me and my son.

I've logged onto the website and it shows as £100, which seems crazily high. No mention of a reduction to £60 or anything like that.

Why would you be bothered when your not paying it
As said the appeal text you use isnt all that relevant

    Just say:

"The driver at the time paid the correct amount for the correct length of stay and did not breach any alleged contractual terms. Therefore cancel the charge or pass to DCB Legal for the immediate commencement of county court proceedings, which will be defended."

Make it sound like you're not a pushover and are up for court.

Sorry to keep asking questions, but if that's the case could I say that more than five months have now passed and I've forgotten the details of what happened. If they'd sent the notification in a timely manner then I could have provided more details, but as they didn't then the driver can't recall what went wrong, but the driver did attempt to use their app/website in good faith.

    Thanks

I appreciate the advice. That said, we didn't pay the correct amount. It was a user error on our part, but only because of the stupid app and how it worked which were completely unfamiliar. why this error was made can barely be recalled as so much time has elapsed, because of the error in sending me the notification. Which they still haven't done by post, just some email. When I click on the link and use the reference number it still has the 24th April 2025 as the deadline, which suggests it hasn't been transfered yet still.

    Thanks

No.  Definitely not as it marks you as a victim who they'll pursue.

Yes, but this is not a real appeal :) . You are disputing an invoice.

This is a box ticking exercise to prevent getting scammed a second time. Otherwise you'd be ignoring.

I'm so sorry, I'm not following. Can you explain to me, like I'm 16 years old, what you think I should do now. I'm happy to be patronised with bullet points etc. :D
