It’s a board meeting so it’s just been postponed, I think it’s more because no one has the answers and they need to find money from somewhere.

@jwil i absolutely feel your pain with same amount of workload but far less people to do if. I am literally doing mine and my bosses job, and I know he was paid £20k more than me. I really want to be paid more but I think i should just count myself lucky I have a job. OHs work is really sporadic, he has very little work for august and September. He’s been on to the agencies about finding him work, but they just keep saying they have irons in fires etc.

Thank you for the melon and mango advice @spendles and @jwil I might eat some of the melon over the next couple of days and freeze the mango. Didn’t get up to go into the city. I’m just exhausted at the moment. OH has gone for his haircut…. He’s trying something different which he will either love and I hate or we’ll both hate, I didn’t want him to change it in the first place but it’s his hair. He hates getting older…..

Still going to the beach today, was originally going to go for food but as we’re both broke that isn’t going to happen. Will make some sausage sandwiches here instead.

Still struggling with stress and overwhelm, just want my head to settle. The beach should help.

Enjoy your day at the beach!  I agree it's frustrating that we have to do the managers work for no extra pay.

Ive lost my last 2 jobs because in the months preceeding me starting theyd lost staff who hadnt been replaced, so I started when there was less people and more work and when I couldn't keep up, I was blamed.

Im now claiming job seekers due to it whilst I seek another role. Not ideal but neither was being made to feel it was my fault that it was impossible to get through the workload.

Eeek to engine light, hopefully nothing too serious (or expensive)

Ah @Spendless I’m so sorry to hear that. Learning a new job then trying to achieve an unachievable workload is awful. I really feel for you.

Good morning, sorry I didn’t post much yesterday.
Had a wonderful day at the beach and enjoyed our sandwiches. Am working today. So free coffee and biscuits. Not sure on lunch so I have made sandwiches in case there isn’t enough. Used up some of the melon yesterday, it was so sweet and yummy. Having left over yoghurt for my breakfast and have enough bread for toast tomorrow.

Going to have a bbq tonight, just me and OH, already have the food in. Flying to Europe with OH tomorrow night as he’s working a few days. I’m going to relax and try and sort out budgets and things and calm myself and read and think about applying for other jobs. Happy I have my books and Netflix too.

I need to do 2 x washing as I have no clean clothes to take away.

I think I am going to be £250 short next month as I have to pay £750 to HMRC my tax from being self employed. That’s based on normal budgets for fuel and food etc, but we’re away for some of the month and the children are only here for half of the month. So I’m sure I can save some money there. I also have £35 of euros I need to change and I have £60 in expenses I need to put in.

Had my insurance quote for the house ins through and that has stayed the same, so I’m happy about that.

Thanks @fionaandphil on the advice for looking at energy companies etc. I hear a lot of people mentioning the octopod one. I’ve never been with anyone apart from British Gas…

Work is….. trying me today…. One of the guests is very very opinionated, I think he may be on the spectrum too the way he has no filter and just interrupts and blurts things out. But he’s doing this through mouthfuls of food and won’t listen to anyone else’s views or opinions. Sometimes my job can be very….. annoying, for want of a better word. I’ve got about another 2.5 hours to go.

oh I forgot to say, engine light disappeared…. So hopefully it stays that way…. I’m really wanting some wine or beer to go with the bbq… but don’t want to spend any money….I think I have a bottle of red and maybe some sparkling wine languishing in the cupboard….. which would do nicely.

Good morning my wonderful frugal friends. Sorry I’ve been quiet. I’ve been abroad with OH whilst he works away It hasn’t cost anything as is on expenses for OH. I’ve been super poorly with some sort of virus though, today is the first day I have felt better, and we go home today 🙄. Hoping we manage to fly back ok with all the problems with London airports…..

Well I have been paid today, which I am very happy about. I wasn’t sure it would happen, if I was to pay attention to work chatter, but I have money in my bank. I am very heavily into my OD but obv my wages have cleared it for now.  will still be in it by the end of this month due to a whopping tax bill that needs paying from previous self employed work. End of Augusts pay should clear the OD down completely. Obv with the current job climate I need it to be gone asap.

I have been watching a lot YouTube videos on money saving and reading a lot of helpful threads on here @jwil @che@Cheery_Daff @gre@Greying_Pilgrim and think I can help myself a bit more with the bills etc. And from reading @gre@Greying_Pilgrim thread I think swede is going to factor heavily in our diets 😊. I’m not sure why when I mention someone why it goes all funny with the @ sign, but hey ho.

Right I’m going to make myself a coffee and look at the budget for Julys pay for the month of August. It’s going to be tight but I know that, it’s more about damage limitation.

T4sco currently have 25% off on the world foods.  Laila 2kg chickpeas or red lentils are £3 for example, Natco is similar. Search on Laila or Natco on T4sco. Worth looking out for the big bags of basmati rice too.  Generally in the bigger stores, in the world food sections but I order for home delivery so no impulse buys for me.  You can often get the 'flexi saver' slots for home delivery for £1.50 which is less than the petrol to get there for me.  There are free click and collect slots too.

I just had a quick look at Sains, and they have the Laila stuff at half price so c£1 a kilo n3ctar price.  And now I will be doing a MrS order.

At least with a cupboard full of pulses there is something filling and nutritious to to eat if things do go pear shaped.  I'd be buying some of those frozen garlic/ginger cubes too as they are a frugal way to add flavour.  I think we have mentioned Thrifty Lesley website before but she does some greta frugal meal plans which may help with inspiration.
