I hope your cold doesn't develop into much. And I agree with above for places to look for work. I'm in a college at the moment and love the holidays and regular pay. A recruiter could help you with a CV and find work that we might not have even thought of that's available. I hope you have a nice time away ☺️.

@missymoo81 meant to say thanks for the chat about the nectar price pulses - lentils duly topped up! We're not veggie but I use them for bulking out mince dishes, though I do love a dahl.

Thank you @jwil @fionaandphil @debtfreewannabe321 and @joedenise , I really appreciate your thoughts and advice. Things have seemingly moved up a notch. I’m still away but spoke to someone from work yesterday, it looks like some higher ups at work are going and the redundancy announcement may be imminent…. OH did his cv and linked thing yesterday. He’s good with these sorts of things so will get him to help me. It’s a case of sitting tight at the moment but having options. Hope you’re all ok.

You’re welcome although I couldn’t get to the shop in time but it has made me think of making dhal for cheap lunches. What’s the best, cheapest most flavourful recipe anyone has? If you wouldn’t mind sharing.

    Meal plan is this:

    Thur 7th - carbonara

    Fri 8th- Maggies chicken

Sat 9th - sausage and mash

    Sun 10th - bbq

Wed 13th - beans and jackets maybe

    Thur 14th - bolognaise

    Fri 15th -lasagne

    Sat 16th - curry

    Sun 17th - chilli

    18th- Shep pie

    19th - pizza

    20th - stew pie

    21st- working late egg sandwiches

    22nd - risotto

    23rd - burritos - with chilli

    Sun 24th - roast

I use a Delia dhal recipe missy although I do add double the amount of spice/ herb it recommends. But it makes a big pot and everyone seems to like it. ☺️

Try and enjoy your break while you are away, you will find out soon enough when you return to it and you should try to get some down time while you are off.  If you are being made redundant there is a whole process to follow and it can take a while.  Good to get your CV up to date though while you can and to look at what else is available.

You have quite a few mince based recipes on the meal plan, I'm sure someone has mentioned it to before, but you can bulk out the mince quite a bit with red lentils or carrots so that you get a much bigger quantity, and the hidden veg of course  :)

I did a roast yesterday, leftover chicken going into a chicken and brocolli bake tomorrow and I've slow cooked the carcass for stock and made soup this morning with all the lurking veg in the fridge.  Still a bit warm for soup though so I'm going to portion it up for soup once the weather gets cooler.

Enjoy the rest of your break.

Ps I am veggie and agree with @fionaandphil use lentils to bulk! Rinse them well before using and they don't take long to cook either. I do a mix of half lentils and half mushrooms diced very very finely (or my DD will pick them out!) as our 'mince' base usually.

Thank you so much @fionaandphil and @debtfreewannabe321 I don’t actually use mince anymore I use a mix of beans and lentils and veg, partly mashed to make a more minced consistency. I make a huge batch and change it into meals like the lasagne, chilli and Shep pie. Thank you for the dhal recipe. Hoping it will fill me up for lunch. I do love soup though @fionaandphil need to make some in the colder months.
