Vinted on your days off! I did some of mine yesterday while I had the ironing board out for something else. All have been favourited so I am hoping quite a lot will go next week when everyone gets paid. It will also help clear the clutter and things in the cupboard of things that just don't fit me.
Today is cutting back and harvesting in the garden and greenhouse, it is like a jungle out there. Weather looks good so I have the first lot of bedding in and hoping to get it all washed, dried and back on for tonight - easily pleased ;o)
Hope your meeting goes well, keeping my fingers crossed for you x1 -
Thank you both. I’m still catching up with your diary @jwil. I didn’t realise you were in exactly my position earlier in the year. I hope you’re managing ok now?
I’m consoling myself by sorting the things I can control and we all know my food spending is just out of control. Trying to save money on basics. Does anyone know a supermarket that sells dried beans? We eat a lot of different beans in the week and I know it would be cheaper to buy dried but I’m not sure where sells them!I’m very hungry today and the canteen is wafting curry in my direction! I must stay strong! I have my salad for lunch. And I am making curry for dinner so I need to try and refrain as I don’t have £5 to spend on extra food.
Weather is atrocious, I’m very much looking forward to getting under my duvet when I get home. I’m super tired at the moment. It’s definitely peri related. Also concentration is pretty much zero! Very frustrating.1 -
Tesco's do some dried beans so might be worth looking in there. I would have thought all the main SMs would sell them. Failing that the big river company sell them.0

Have you got someone who can keep you in the loop re happenings at work whilst youre off?
Experience makes me think theyll be no big announcement immediately following tomorrow's directors meeting, but a plan will be discussed to be in place and the rest of the workforce will know sometime next week.
Long time since I last looked but I think the larger morrisons used to carry dried beans.1 -
Arrrghh meeting has been cancelled apparently so all in limbo for how long no one knows. I really hope I get paid…… life is going to be a struggle if not!
Thank you both. My Sainsbury’s only sells one type. I watch a lot of American YouTube videos and they are able to buy huge bags of them and I just wondered if the average supermarket did them.
I had porridge this morning and my salad for lunch and some biscuits and am now having a cuppa. I’m not hungry just yet so that’s good. Going to cook the curry in the oven so the chicken goes all tender. Only have brown rice which I’m not a huge fan off but it will do. I have lots of chicken breasts which I will freeze for when we’re back from being away. I also have a mango and a melon. Can I freeze these if I chop them up?
Sorry just rambling.

Missy Have you got any Asian supermarkets near you? If so try them for beans.
Also in the supermarkets do you look on the World Foods aisle? If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.1 -
Hi, I think we have Asian supermarkets in the city, I’m popping in tomorrow so will have a look, thank you. Going to take back some tops too. I really don’t want to but needs must. Also thinking, I need to swap electricity provider and phone contract and I’m wondering whether there’s any deals I can take advantage of. I know OH gets free Microsoft something or other which is worth £15 a month. Going to look into it… need to upgrade bank account at no cost to get Disney too.
Again just rambling whilst I wait for the minutes to tick down to 5pm!1 -
Have a good look on MSE Energy club and see if they recommend a particular provider which may also bring a bit of cashback. If it is Octopus (which I doubt) then give us a shout on here and one of us can give you referral code which gets you a statement credit. Can't help with the phone though!
Hope you have a nice relaxing evening, treat yourself to a good soak and some me time x1 -
Yes, I was in the same position as you last year, so I really feel your pain. The uncertainty is awful, it affected me a lot more than I realised at the time (despite constantly moaning on my diary). I was told I was being made redundant, then managed to get my post reinstated. It's a huge relief not to have to be job hunting, but now I'm on the other side where the work doesn't go down but the staff numbers have! DH's employer then became insolvent, so he was made redundant, and we've had to deal with claiming from the govt from that. It's been a fun year or so!
I really hope you get the answers you need soon. It's much easier to plan when you know the situation.
You can freeze mango and melon - I'd guess that the melon would be better eaten from frozen like an ice lolly or used in a smoothie defrosted. I'd guess it changes its texture due to the water content. You can buy frozen mango in the shops so it will be fine."If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney2 -
Mango likely to be fine. Melon the more water content it has the more likely itll be 'mushy' on defrosting.
Does your colleague 'in the know' know if the meeting is cancelled or just postponed?
Cancelled could be anything from 'everything is back rosy' to 'nowt we can do now mate'
Postponed could be a key person isnt available until a different date, they need to wait until x date when they get info about sonething relevant confirmed.
Yeah start looking thru your bills to see what you can cut/reduce.1
