Morning, Happy Sunday! I wish I could lay in. But despite going to bed super late. I’m awake bright and early. I’m sat watching cooking programs on tv whilst the washing is on and OH is asleep.
Lazy day today. Money is super tight so I don’t want to spend any on anything apart from the food shop which I will try and do tomorrow. I’m away from Tuesday evening to Sunday night, it’s going to be exhausting. I’ve thought of cheap ways to eat and drink. I’m going to take a big flask of hot water and some powdered latte. I’m taking oats to make porridge pots with protein powder, bananas, and apples and biscuits as snacks. A mug shot thing for lunch with the same Hot water. Or maybe cheese sandwiches? Then dinner will be a pasta and sauce thing. No Fridge or microwave is the issue, not the healthiest but it’s temporary
Hmmm I love watching cooking programs but I don’t think I’ll be cooking duck confit any time soon!3 -
Does work not give you an allowance for food whilst away ?When DS does his d of e we send him with peanut butter wraps as they don’t go ‘off’ and can be eaten at any point.Sealed pot challenge 822

Hey @dawnybabes they do give you an allowance, but it can take a month or 2 to get the money back, which would mean me going into my overdraft. And it’s at an event so food is astronomically expensive and you have to queue for ages. Peanut butter! That’s a great idea.2

Having a very lazy day. I’ve done the dishwasher, litter tray and 2 loads of washing. I’m very pleased I managed to get one lot out on the line and dry before the rain.I’m struggling a little today. I know I’ve got such a busy week from Tuesday and I’m struggling with work being so crazy, and not having any money. I’m now wanting to retire and live off the land. I know I can’t right now, obviously…. It’s very much a retirement dream. I just don’t think I can work this hard for the next 20 years. Still no word on job. I should know more in 6 weeks possibly and then maybe more October or the end of the year. So who knows.2

Have you thought about pasta, couscous or noodles with your hot flask and maybe a tin or two of tuna? Cereal bars might also work as they are portable and can fill you up. Not the healthiest meals but would keep your bills down. I would submit a receipt for it all too even if it does take weeks.
Hope you are getting some free time today to just relax x1 -
Oh I remember those days of having to submit your expenses and then wait for the money reimbursed. Mr S invariably didnt submit on time, the CC payment rolled round we didn't have enough and had to pay minimum, got interest added and then when we did get expenses back, life had thrown an unexpected bill so we needed to pay that instead. I breathed a sigh of relief when he eventually got a company credit card, but by then we were in debt with our own CC and only became debt free last year but this is how it started.
Will you get chance to browse a supermarket before your trip? If you do Id look at the ambient (shelf stuff) aisles for some ideas, eg ready to eat jellies/fruit in jelly, mini cheddars, sandwich paste, all stuff like that. Bananas can go brown very quickly and arent the easiest to transport since they're soft. Unless you can buy green ones so they can spend a day or two ripening, Id go for 'harder' fruits such as apples or pears.2
