Absolutely not!  You should be paying for your mums holiday as a thank you to her.

Wow, just wow! I seriously can't believe you need to ask this question. You'll be asking her to take your son on holiday with her next. You need to look in the mirror and see how selfish a person you are to even consider it yet alone ask people's opinion! Wake up to what a wonderful mother you have as so many people don't have that luxury, jeez every swear word should be used at you, so entitled 😤

Presumably you are hoping by the time your mother needs help herself that your children will be old enough to do that for you for free too. I’m sure you wouldn’t want to forgo any income to help out or have to contribute to the costs of that care either, regardless of how much she has helped you out with your children.

I pick up our grandson every Friday from school to take him to his dad. It costs me about £50 a month in fuel. I am very happy to help and have never expected (nor been offered ) payment. If either parent ever asked me to pay to cover  me taking a break there would be a very serious conversation.
  • Entitled !!
Your mother is looking after your children for FREE and now you want to charge her for someone to look after them while she has a holiday.
You need a total reality check.
How much money will she have saved you over the time she has had them for you?
You should actually be paying for her to go on holiday never mind asking her to pay for your children’s childcare.
Maybe she should stop having your children and you have to pay for childcare every week
  • This can not be genuine ! No one can think this way, surely?

She probably needs a holiday after looking after YOUR son
  • What a precocious princess. Sounds like someone is used to getting everything when she stamps her feet.
We can't do enough for our children and grandchildren. However, we do factor in down time and we deserve it. We worked hard throughout our lives to provide. We were unfortunate in not having the help you appear to be entitled to. It doesn't make us any less devoted to our family.

I hope for your sake she doesn't read your dilemma as that's gonna open a can of reality you won't like.

Did you even consult you husband about this? It would be something and maybe you could have averted all this ridicule.

Hopefully it was a joke and you wanted to see the trolls come out to play!

No. They're your children, therefore your responsibility. It's lovely that your Mum helps you out when she does, but she really doesn't have to!

Shocked you even thought to charge your mum. She is helping you and your husband, week in and week out for free I assume and you want her to PAY for your children's after school club? NO
