By all means ask her, but please film her face and let us know how much you'll pay for childcare after that. Unbelievable.4

Send your mum on holiday, if she looks after your kids 3 of 5 days I would suggest the only dilemma is why you aren't paying for her holiday.

Are you really asking this question? If so you need a serious reality check. Your Mum is doing you a huge favour. No doubt she enjoys the time with her grandson, but asking her to contribute to the extra costs you will incur could seriously damage your relationship. Give yourselves a reality check and suck it up.1

This has to be a joke! Absolutely ridiculous 'dilemma'. It has to be made up as surely no-one is that selfish 🙄3

My first thought when I read this is it must be for click bait ! One does not even need to answer, it's so obvious and clearly anyone in their right mind would not ask this 'dilemma' Jez...4

I've just had a quick check in my diary to make sure it isn't the 1st April! Cannot believe this is a genuine situation.4

I can’t believe you are even thinking this, I take my granddaughter to school four mornings a week, pick up 2-3 afternoons, look after my daughter’s toddler two days a week and take the eldest to her swimming lesson, I do this because I love my daughter and she works 3.5 days a week to help with finances. I am going on holiday for a week in June and apart from running this past her so she could make alternative plans I would not take a holiday because of childcare both she, her husband and his mother can cover for a week. I would be interested to know what you do during school holidays, does your mother give free childcare then as well? I think you should respect and honour your mum - I expect like me she thought she’d done that and got the t-shirt3

I am horrified that your mum can have a holiday without prior consent from you, as this has left a huge gap in your schedule that you now have to sort and budget for. How dare she do this? She must definitely pay you to cover the costs associated for you with this problem she has created.Hang on a minute…… is this April 1st?
No?Your kid, your cash and your responsibility or don’t have them. Many people would love to have children but can’t- me included, so this is an insult to people like me. Just unbelievable!!!!!!
I strongly suggest you find a copy of the hit “No Charge” by J.J Barrie and listen VERY carefully to the lyrics.
What a disgrace you are to humanity, as a parent, as the daughter and son-in- law of this lovely tired woman who is doing your childcare for free.Just appalling. Get a life and some common sense. Whoever is writing this garbage at MSE needs a serious reality check and stop publishing this disgraceful nonsense.5 -
I cannot believe you have even asked this question. Do you ever give your Mum anything for collecting your Son, her Grandchild from school 3 times a week? I bet she wouldn't think to ask you to contribute towards it as she enjoys spending time with him. I think you should wish her a happy holiday and give her some spending money as a thank you for all she does, and in future show her some gratitude, you don't realise how lucky you are!!3

As a grandmother who picks her two grandsons up from school twice a week I'm pleased to say that my daughter is quite happy for me to go on holiday for 3 1/2 weeks in term time, during which she will have to pay extra childcare costs or take annual leave. Fortunately I have brought her not to take for granted the help I give her with childcare. She also knows that by me taking my holidays in term time I am available to look after the boys during school holidays which would be far more costly to her in terms of childcare.
I'm also guessing that your mother, like me, feeds your children when she looks after them and probably pays to take them out during school holidays and never asks you for a penny. Please just learn to appreciate how fortunate you are and stop taking her for granted.5
