I have just received an email to say private sellers can on use Simple Delivery from 15 April. I don’t think ebay wants private sellers. First the fees have gone bonkers. They pretend that the buyer is paying the fee but it’s just nonsense. The fee comes out of the payment. The buyer offers £10 and i get £8.89. Most of my items are low value so it makes a big difference. I like to work out the postage myself and use our local post office. It might be a bit more expensive but if we don’t use our post office it will shut. I stopped selling through Amazon because the fees were so high and now ebay is similar.1

I sell low value items (£5 - £10) and eBay is practically useless for me now. I was ploughing on though as before one of the previous price increases I bought a lot of large letter stamps so they need to be used up.
Now I have till 15th April to sell as much as I can and use as many stamps as possible.
Then I'm stuck with masses of stamps and no use for them - a few Christmas and Birthday cards every year aren't going to make much of a dent.

It is as feared then that simple delivery will be mandatory, this is the main part of the ebay message.
We’re continuing our mission to provide you with a great selling experience on eBay, which is why we made it free to sell. Now, we’re enhancing delivery so it’s faster, easier, and more secure for you to send your items.
Starting from 15 April, Simple Delivery will be the only delivery method available for private sellers when listing most items. There’ll be a few exceptions, such as low-priced, bulky items, and local pick-up, which aren’t eligible for Simple Delivery.
What is Simple Delivery?
Simple Delivery is our all-in-one delivery solution, designed to cut out all of the effort and save you money. It’s also the fastest way to get paid on eBay. Plus, buyers will benefit from savings and enjoy the peace of mind that tracking offers. Here’s how it works:
1.
When listing, we’ll recommend the size and weight of your item. Just confirm and we’ll do the rest.
2.
Once your item sells, you’ll receive both a printer-less QR code and a prepaid printable label, so you can choose what’s easiest.
3.
Drop off your item at the nearest carrier location, or schedule a home collection and you’re done!
You’ll still be able to choose the carriers by going to Postage Preferences in your account settings. We recommend enabling all carriers for the most competitive postage rates.

I think I'd better get a shift on with listing some of my large letter size items, and worry about parcel size ones later. THis is really going to cause issues with cheaper LL items that currently go as £1.55 large letters and will in future be a minimum of £2.70. (I haven't adjusted for any price increases with RM which come in next week)

Can someone help me with this please:
Simple Delivery will apply to new eligible listings by private sellers in the UK, and from 7 April to any existing listings that are eligible. If you selected buyer-paid postage, this will stay the same when your listings are updated. If you’re covering the costs, they’ll be deducted from your sales.
So from 7th April does that mean that any listings with free postage will be automatically charged to simple delivery? It's really not clear.
Thanks0 -

If you offer free postage it will still be switched to simple delivery, but ebay will charge the seller for the label, not the buyer- so for low cost items the seller may well be being charged £2.70 for a LL they currently stick a LL stamp on. So basically, best to get rid of anything freepost - in case my interpretation is correct.
However, I fully admit I can't quite make all the dates fit logically with the announcement.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Just fiddling about with my listings- I had a couple of freepost items as they go on an 85p stamp (think flat like a sticker). Moving that over to the cheapest/thinnist option of simple delivery gives buyer a price of £2.70 for postage, which prices these out of the market. The charity shop will be doing well from me going forward!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I can’t think of an example of a business that has made so many radical changes in such a short space of time.0
