eBay simple delivery (merged)

On the two occasions I've used simple delivery the label has come with a message saying 'not the correct size and weight click here' or similar. So ebay have envisaged this.soolin said:
I don’t how that would work. Buyer has paid eBay for a label , seller has received nothing, if seller can’t use the eBay label due to it being insufficient then seller could buy a new label , but eBay would consider the item un sent and cancel the sale. So my suggestion would be that seller would have to cancel the sale entirely.savergrant said:
If you purchase postage through ebay you have to specify the package size and maximum weight. If you buy postage direct from royal mail, evri, or yodel you do the same. If you buy at the post office they will usually check the size and weight before you pay, but I'm guessing very few people do that these days.RedImp_2 said:
No I meant for myself, I didn’t check the weight properly when listing so when it came to sending it cost me more than I charged, which is fine was my mistake. But I was thinking if I’d entered too small a package on simple delivery and I just then used the label provided by EBay what would happen.savergrant said:
Do you mean at the post office? If you purchase a label online you need to specify the right size and weight, simple delivery or not. With simple delivery there is an option to say the size and weight is wrong but I can't tell you what it does. If you were to buy a label and then realise the parcel was overweight I presume you can cancel the label and buy another? Presumably that is what eBay would do in the case of simple delivery but who pays the difference?RedImp_2 said:Couple of things occur to me reading through this.
Recently I messed up on postage charged when I came to send, I just obviously sucked up the difference myself. What if this had been Simple Delivery and the label produced was rejected by Evri say as overweight. Sounds like it could be a nightmare.
I also haven’t seen anything to see how combined postage might work. I’m sure combined postage rates have helped me sell multiple items many times.
If you put insufficient postage on any item a surcharge will apply to it.
The option is there on simple delivery to say the size and weight is wrong, I'd imagine ebay will then cancel the label and purchase another at your cost. You just need to read the message that comes with the label to check you didn't underestimate the size and weight when listing.
If you as the seller cancel the sale what happens to the label ebay has bought on behalf of the buyer?0 -
I didn't get that message on the two or thre times I've used simple delivery- but if there is a clickable link - that suge that there is a system in place if seller has given wrong measurement or weight. However, since ebay can't charge the buyer more after the sale, I wonder if it just then cancels the sale with no penalty to the seller?savergrant said:

"Can I adjust the size and weight details of my item?
If we're unable to determine the size and weight of your item accurately, you'll be asked to specify these details when you list it. This ensures you receive a suitable postage label when your item sells. You may also choose to update the size and weight if you believe our estimate is incorrect. Just make sure to report accurate measurements to avoid additional charges."
The last four words suggest to me that if you report the size/weight is wrong ebay will issue a replacement label but deduct the cost from the transaction funds....

Now I'm getting confused. I tried to view the details of the SD label I used earlier this week and found this bit of info;
'How to ship
- Pack your itemEnsure your item is securely packaged to reach buyers in perfect condition. If your item size and weight exceed the size and weight printed on the label, please proceed to ship the item; the carrier will accept the package. You can also print a packing slip to include inside your package.'

Last few days the app is only giving me the option for simple delivery, not custom delivery0
-
Same here, I had the option of custom delivery up until 3-4 days ago. This on my PC btw. As I don't have a printer I am unable to list anything at the moment.Mayaboo said:Last few days the app is only giving me the option for simple delivery, not custom delivery0 -
I have the opposite issue, on one of my private accounts I am not always being offered simple delivery- but for some of the items it would actually suit me. On my main private acocunt though I still have the choice (I list on the PC) .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I've just noticed that the draft listings I've done in the last 3 days have my old address as item location, I moved over 2 years ago. The draft listings I did about a week ago have my new correct address showing.0

You don't need a printer for evri parcels, you use the qr code to print the label in store. I believe for royal mail you would need to go to a customer service point (which open at inconvenient times for me) to print in store, which is bizarre since I use the evri qr code at my post officejeffuk said:

Are both addresses still shown in your ebay 'my account'?jeffuk said:I've just noticed that the draft listings I've done in the last 3 days have my old address as item location, I moved over 2 years ago. The draft listings I did about a week ago have my new correct address showing.0
