A couple of questions as I've just had my first sale using eBay's simple deliver, considering it was my only option when listing.

    1. I have opted out of Evri and use only Royal Mail. What does the buyer see? Will they see options for Tracked24 and Tracked48 etc, or do they just see the one RM option?

    2. Just printed off my first simple delivery label. Unfortunately it's Tracked48 (I always preferred Tracked24). However the item price was £220. If I understand correctly, if it's lost during transit eBay will cover the full value and I claim via them instead of RM?

Just a bit concerned as Tracked48 has always taken absolutely ages for me, whereas Tracked24 is always next day. With the sale price of the item I would have gone with RMSD if I were purchasing the label TBH.
Buyers only see the headline figure which is RM48 .

The FAQs definitely state the following:
    • You'll be protected if the item is lost or damaged from the point the item is scanned into the carrier's delivery network and until it's marked as delivered
More imprtantly you no longer need to use the fast service to protect your metrics as it also says:
    • Your seller performance standards and service metrics won't be affected by late deliveries
And it appears that it covers items:
    • £750 or less (Buy It Now price, auction starting price or reserve price)

My layout for SD has just changed on my LL items under 100g and under £10 in total for a couple I decided to relist with better photos.

Instead of advanced or Simple delivery being my options in line with other listings, or just my own postage (as previously with most of my LLs) I now have another tab for Custom postage, and choosing that allows me to continue adding my own postage and ignoring SD.

I can either manually add my postage and options or just use an existing business policy, which I have chosen to do.

I had an item returned today .. caused by a local collection point no longer offering the service.

I relisted the item, but the postage was not able to be changed .. ended up showing as £3.71.

Previously I charged £3.75 for Royal mail parcels, but after the recent RM price increase, I was going to charge more, but I can't

Am I doing something wrong ?

Why would I want to charge less than the actual price I pay
  • eBay are really messing up with this, I listed 5 items all under £10 and it only offered simple delivery for 1 item, and I had to restart that listing because when I initially went to submit it I was notified I would be charged a 35p listing fee, there were no additional listing features included.

If it's Simple delivery, which is what it sounds like as all parcels should be switching over by now , then you don't pay at all. If you opt for 'buyer pays' then buyer pays ebay and you get a pre paid label. If you opt for seller pays, then you still get a pre paid label, but you will be charged for it.

You are no longer responsible for arranging your own postage.

35p is the listing fee, not an upgrade. You should only be charged if you have exceeded your free allowance for the month, have added a 2nd category or if you have a duration of 3 days or less.

Fees for private sellers | eBay

    Do any of those apply?

Start from scratch again , as there doesn't appear to be anything else that counts as a listing fee at 35p. The usual one is a 2nd category, I've seen the occasional mention of that being sneakily added as a 'suggestion' and being overlooked by the seller.

This is supposed to be the changeover to simple delivery day but I am still able to list items in the old format.I have bought both a smartphone and label printer in the last week to give simple delivery a go.

I always thought the short run in was optimistic of eBay. We’ve seen it before, they announce something, then delay it, or part implement it bit by bit, they never seem to learn.
