* That's the key, exactly! The more you do the easier it does get because you can see the fruits of your decluttering labourold_fogey said:@Cupcakecraftscuddlycanine , yes I am sure I will attempt more crafting as everything will be to hand as well. Previously, If I needed to make cards, I had to gather up what I think I needed and take it downstairs. And bigger things I can leave out.
@Dizzycap Well done on your decluttering, I am very impressed. I have probably been at it only 18 months or so, *but the more I do the easier it gets, and I can see the benefit. I really need to stick at it. We emptied the loft above the bedroom/craft room before we decorated it - there were about **50 empty wine bottles in case we wanted to start making wine again!! Ha ha. And we have way too much furniture to store all the rubbish in too.
Today I altered an enormous tablecloth to fit, and made napkins with the offcuts. I have been meaning to do it for about 15 years. FANTASTIC! I love an upcycle
Think how much money you saved using your creative skills and the benefits of a having a couple of hours crafty time

It eventually becomes the norm when doing house hold chores. I walked into my bedroom to get dressed his morning and ended up cleaning, putting things in their rightful place, making the bed & hoovering before I even got around to getting dressed
And when I finally got dressed, I felt good and prepared for the day
**If you have a bottle glass cutter or know someone you could borrow one off of and fancy a project, you could make some great handmade beer, wine & juice glasses

@Dizzycap I hope it becomes the norm for me too - that would be great. I still have some nightmare areas to start, so hopefully will continue to acquire more decluttering skills.
The bottles went in the recycling.

This is a card similar to the 80th birthday one- imagine 8 pages of this without the ribbon!! Brilliant for using up scraps though, plenty to be getting through at the moment, the scrap box overflowed and I've got loads of small bits still on the desk to use up. I echo the sentiments of how useful it is to have a room to store everything in- you can also shut the door on the mess!!!

Lovely card @emsi_b. Given me an idea for using up the scrap bits and pieces.
I made this pin cushion in a teacup at craft group yesterday. We had such a lot of fun making them. I gained a lot of bits and pieces of craft stuff from my DSs house when she passed away and have made this with silk and lace from her stash to gift to my other sister. I hope she likes it.

@ old_fogey - You're doing great with your decluttering
You've obviously found a decluttering method that works for you and are able to slot in crafty time too, which can only be a bonus
@ Soontobeoap - Fantastic idea with the pin cushion in a teacup
and what a fantastic well thought out gift!
Not a lot of inside crafting going on here at the moment but I'm crafting in the garden for 20-30 minutes each day, which I love doing in all weathers

Hi, I’ve only just found this thread - is it too late to join up for 2025?I’m looking to destash as part of a more general declutter before I retire in 3 - 5 years time. Swedish Death Cleaning - sort of?
The main strategies are:
1. Finish WIPs - crochet, knitting and sewing
2. Donate, give away or sell my jewellery making supplies since my hands and eyes aren’t up to that any more
3. Recycle most of the clothing I’ve been keeping for unspecified future upcycling projects
4. Offer excess yarn and fabric to my crafty friends - some have already called dibs on certain items!
5. Don’t buy any new wool or fabric until October at the earliest (the beginning of Christmas making season)7 -
Hi @BridgetTheCat - it is never too late to join up
