2025 - No Craft Spending - We WILL bust my stash and make pretty things!!!!!

Another year and yet again another vow not to spend anything on craft supplies until I have used up everything I have.
In all honesty I could open a shop and craft everyday and I would never be able to use all my supplies in my lifetime!!!
I was really good last year and hope to be just as good this year too.
Who needs to own up who has more crafty stash than they can fit in their house?
Are you like me and have piles of paper, wool, things to upcycle etc stashed all over your house?
2025 is new year ahead of us - another chance to stash bust and turn all our crafting supplies into pretty things
I have put myself on a self imposed craft spending ban during 2024.
As a total ban has not worked well for me in the past I have decided to set a budget of £200 for the year for me to treat myself to new supplies. I am not going to include in my budget buying adhesives or supplies for orders (for items which I already make - I have my own business on Etsy) as long as I have nothing left in my stash which I can use and I am allowing crafty storage as extra if really required and I don't have something already that can do the job as I figure being organised will help me see the stash I already have.
Other than that I hope to use only things from my stash and not get tempted by the new shiny objects which keep being released.
As I have failed miserably at my previous targets I may have to set the bar a little lower but always optimistic I am am going to start my target at 2025.
This will be a mixture of cards, scrapbook pages, handmade items - in fact a real mixture of things as I'm sure I have all the supplies I need to make pretty much everything I can think of!
Would anybody care to join me?
The rules are simple - there are no hard and fast rules apart from what you want them to be. The aim is to use our crafty stash and stay within our crafty budget but of course if you do weaken and grow your stash just come in and confess your sins and you will be forgiven
You can set your own target of how many items you would like to make using your stash or just a certain amount of time you want to not buy for. Whatever works for you is ok with me.
So who is with me - who is going to turn their crafty stash into pretty things and start to reclaim the space in their house back?
Happy crafting everyone

Hello please may I join again?
Have several items to finish and materials to start new ones!
Hopefully my stash will become much smaller by the end of the year and I will be more organised
Thank you for this thread5 -
Hi, please can I join for 2025?
My crafting stash is currently extensive, my mother passed away last year so have all of her wool, card making stash etc, as well as my own projects, so I’d like to use up as much of everything this year as I can, only buying things to help me use it up like tape, sentiment stickers etc, so target spending will be no more than £100, and target to make will start at 100 (but may increase during the year). Am hoping to make all the birthday and Xmas cards this year, and have several projects started but not completed including two amigurumi toys, a jumper and 2 cross-stitches, so they will be my first priorities to clear. I’ll try to report in as regularly as I remember.5 -
I'm in for this year please. I just love seeing pics of everyone's makes. I am hoping to finish all ongoing projects and make the 2 family recipe books that I have been meaning to make up with family recipes for my 2 grown up children and family's. I have a shawl I am in the process of making for baby due any minute and Christmas cards to make up for me and my neighbour.plenty for this month.will post results at end of month. I find a budget really hard but buy a lot for craft group. So hoping to keep to £200 for my personal budget.craft stash 2023 =161 items made 2024 = 117 made 2 mended 2025 =5 made and 4 mended,

I'd like to join again this year please. I have a craft warehouse worth of stuff around the house!! I'm in the process of collating it all and then working out what I can and can't do with it. Once I get to that stage, I can then decide if I can let some of it go.
RL is going to always be around and I have a house and garden to renovate so no goals apart from the collating. If I get that all done, anything else will be a bonus. 😁 Dx

Hello! Rejoining and aiming for no spending apart from consumables- glue, tape etc. My total makes aim is 200 things- I have a few items on my to make list, but all hinge on me getting the sewing machine working again! A job for Tuesday, when small boy is back at school.
Make £2025 in 2025- £37.95/£2025
Make £2024 in 2024- £852.21/£2024

166/200- bust my craft stash 2024! £106.80.80 spent

I'd like to join again please especially since I got a mention in the A-Z of the year under 'knitting!' (No, I'm kidding- it was fun to be mentioned but not my ulterior motive)
I haven't yet been able to work out what I earned for the charity Dogs for Good but know it will be less than 2023 (sadly)
I know that otherwise I am in profit- all those crochet angels which took a lot of time but not a lot of materials.
At some point I will manage to update my signature- just running out of space.
My aim, as before, is to 'Make as much as possible' - everything is a bonus but stock doesn't seem to ever go down!!! (Partly because I get given fabric for doggy duvets, or anything else)
I am only going to spend for absolute essentials- like the DK yarn for angels as I have nothing suitable in the stash and believe me I have looked..... I've tried other yarn & pulled the items down- curses!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Hi all,
@craftingmad Thank you for running this thread. I think I would like to join you this year rather than lurking
I have some yarn to use up on various projects and other craft stuff but very little space to make so I will concentrate on the yarn this year as I can work on that on the couch
I have set myself a target of 12 things and have just finished the first, a crochet baby blanket. I have been working on this since early December and I am in the middle of a mini baby boom right now and I have 2 more to make, unfortunately I will have to buy some yarn as I just don't have enough of the right colours but all the other projects will hopefully be made from my stash. I will aim to spend no more than £40 which should be pleanty
.
Looking forward to seeing all your makes and I will post a photo of the blanket after I have taken one
Take care everyone

Hi,
I would like to rejoin. Only planning to buy consumables. Still trying to bust what I have and to sell it at craft fairs. In the process of finishing 70 Christmas cards and still reckon I could make another 50+ Scary to think even with the cards so far I don't seem to have made a dent in my stash!!!
Got 2 cupboards worth of stuff to work through. I need to learn to say no to other folks craft stuff, but you folks know what it is like 😂2023 Frugal Living Challenge

Thanks to @Katiehound for pointing me in the direction of this lovely thread!
I have an absolute ban on myself for buying yarn in 2025 - I did pretty well in 2024, only 2 fails for essential colours I needed for specific projects (eg: Royal Blue for a Postman Pat, glitter yarn because it's glittery etc)However, the stash still doesn't seem to have gone down by much!
Soplease can I join in for 2025? I have a two-part goal: don't buy yarn; plus, Use Up (UU) a ball a week (based on 50g balls), so aiming for 52 balls out of here!
My main Use Up strategy is Crochet Alongs. Often there's a kit of yarn for sale alongside but I've been 'shopping from the stash' rather than buy yarn for them. I made 3 stash-buster blankets in 2024, gifted 2 to my little granddaughters for cuddle-up purposes. I also have an irrational dislike of plastic coat hangersso I use yarn leftover from projects to knit or crochet covers for them, which means when I dry things on hangers, I don't get horrible hanger shapes in the shoulders, so it's win-win! I won't be counting these leftovers in my 52, that's for the big balls!
I've started off this year with a couple of hangers and hope to plan and start a larger knitting project in the next week.
Thanks for having me and thanks again to @Katiehound~ * ~ "A goal without a plan is just a wish" Antoine de Saint Expuery ~ * ~
