Comments

Mrs SD he suggested it on Friday evening - I was so pleased as it’s normally me who has to think of such things.
Lots of pottering at smaller jobs this afternoon and a few things needed have been ordered. An accumulation of cables on the bedroom floor has been put away and a small box also from bedroom floor has been emptied and contents sorted and put away/recycled.
Sat down with OH to plan the week ahead and start making decisions about the following week. It’s working really well for us to do this on a Sunday evening.

Actually got some washing partly dried outside yesterday. Not so lucky today. Been wet & windy all day. Got an aerial installer coming tomorrow, so deep cleaned the lounge and bedroom. Found half a black bag of stuff to go in the bin which will be decluttered tomorrow. Cleaned windows and nets, so an early start on spring cleaning. Decluttered lots of paperwork to the bin and for burning over last few days. Quite satisfied with my efforts this week. So much more to do, but you have to start somewhere. Thinking of all affected by the storm and struggling with RL. I hope you all have good outcomes xx19

It has been a good day here too. I have managed 12 ebay listings mainly after having a big sort out of the puzzles and games, they had hit the point of overflow out the cupboard so popping up in different parts of the house. One puzzle is going to a friend as know her kind of picture.
Also listed a set of 'diet' books. Am pleased as had three sales, including said diet books, a really lovely woodland puzzle I have just done, and an item that has been listed for six months. That will be a few more things out the house.
I've been reflecting on how critical it is with decluttering to stem the incoming, to see the benefit - I love thrifting, so it is easy to accumulate more than you realise ....... This year so far I am really proud of making a shift, I had a little look round a few shops on Saturday, and actually only came home with the things on the list! Woo hoo.
I have today also thrown out our grill rack after cooking tea on it, as the general condition had hit unsalvagable (and we have had the same one for years) - that did have to be replaced as a regularly used item, so placed an order.

@ EcoIntent well done with the sales and getting things out of the house. I found and still find it important to reflect on what actually comes in to clutter up the house and whether those items are an essential necessity. Other than dropping off items to inpost lockers or the charity shop to declutter, when I can, I don't look around shops to reclutter on non-essentials. I now prefer my new found simplistic but comfortable predominantly uncluttered spaceI need to declutter one last cup of coffee before I go back to bed and rest. - Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
- Concerted effort to sort out sleep patterns - Realistic targets: bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 10:00 a.m
- Continue dealing with mail & email on a daily basis
- Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
- Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
- Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
So I did precisely nothing all day apart from read & have an hour long nap about 15:00. For lunch DH finished the hm soup & I heated up the lo spaghetti with a tablespoon of pesto stirred in & some Parmesan grated over it. It rained on & off all day. DH helped me make dinner - fillet steak, Dauphinois potatoes & garlicky green beans 🤤 Wudupa

Florenceem, I hope you are not losing too much weight 🤞
florianatwobob it sounds like you definitely charmed the bus driver as he parked close to the kerb & lowered the bus 😊
Great decluttering Willowtree222 especially the bag of batteries 👏
diminua, at least it was only a slight hiccup 😉 Looking at it another way you won’t need to buy any more art supplies for quite a while & there is a possibility or even probability that inflation would have made them more expensive later in the year 🤔
Florenceem, you deserve an afternoon off from visiting MrF & it really old have been a miserable trip in the rain. Smoked salmon & apple turnover & custard 😋
nannywindow, the day to day decluttering is just as important as the big ticket decluttering 😊 so well done on keeping it under control 👏 Sorry to hear that 2025 has started the way 2024 ended with more health issues 😔 I will keep everything crossed that the results of the blood tests & X-rays are clear & no more issues are added 🤞Very MSE with your food supplies 😊 & excellent decluttering & tidying of the bottom of the wardrobe 👏 Also well done on finally persuading your DH to relinquish the uncomfortable shoes 👏
Great decluttering Rootle 👏
Excellent work in your craft room daisy_1571 👏 & well done on doing such thorough vacuuming 👏 Sounds like a lovely way to spend an afternoon & reminisce about your 12-14 year old self & be reminded of your granny 🥹 I have a couple of old diaries which I do need to read & hopefully will be as strong as you & be able to dispose of them 🤞
QueenJess, sorry to hear that your DS has given you his cold & that you are struggling to get rid of it 😔 The TLC Carriage is the perfect place to recover & also get some digital decluttering out of the way 👏 Hope you have a good first day in your new job 😊
Florenceem, you would think there would be an easier way to remove your listings rather than one at a time ☹️ However well done on persevering 👏 I hope that there aren’t too many items & that you will only have to make a couple of trips to the CS 🤞Very pleased to hear that there was nothing wrong with the chocolates🙂
I am nodding off now so will post this & catch up with the cheerleading tomorrow. Sleep tight 😴

Morning all. Up and had my first cup of tea.
Yellow weather warning here.
I plan to go out to the charity shop at 9 with a trolley and bag full of stuff so starting this week's decluttering.
I have labels to print for items sold before I delisted on V.Duchess2 - my Spring cleaning will have to wait until I have decluttered - who knows when that will be.
EcoIntent - so true - no good getting stuff out of the house and replacing it with bits from a charity shop. I don't look when going in with donations.
Dizzycap - we think alike. However I am not at the empty spaces yet.
Mrs SD - it will be lots of trips to the charity shop. I had 26 very large and full bags of items listed on V.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Morning all. Not much out as things (for cat) have been coming in. Three CS bags in the hall which is this morning's job. Mr Sox (or it probably should be Sir Sox) has made himself at home - very taken with the idea that he has lots of rooms to inspect and hide in and several large windows with empty sills. Lost him completely yesterday and DGD4 eventually found him asleep under the covers of DGS4's bed. Good job I am not still in my old bungalow which was a lot bigger as we could have been looking for him for days. Thanks for all the suggestions, I have changed the cat litter and put the cover on the dirt tray. He seems to eat a lot but I think he is a bit thin - will be careful not to overdo it. I managed to pick him up briefly yesterday but he looked extremely offended. He loves the children who were happy to buy birthday presents for him yesterday. We got a tower with scratching posts and feather and mouse toys.

DS1 on a business trip to Florida was not impressed to find snow. No children tonight then they are back until Friday. There are frogs to munch, a bit of shopping to do, CS bags to drop off and general tidying up.2025 Decluttering Campaign 635/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟
