No, 2nd October reduction was published a while ago, so presumably it will stay 6% until the next round.surreysaver said:
And YBS are reducing the rates on variable rate accounts in a couple of weeks - I wonder if that includes this one?WillPS said:Probably won't bother with an application even for YBS - 6% accounts are already being lined up to be culled in the next couple of months to keep MonBS topped up at 7%. Even if it became competitive through other reductions midterm the potential gain would be tiny.
It'll make sense for someone, but not for me.0 -
1. I'm expecting the rate on this account to still be above 6% based on current base rate predictionsE_zroda said:
What would be the plan for the 000s in MonBS when their rate starts dropping down after the initial inflow from MSEs money?WillPS said:Probably won't bother with an application even for YBS - 6% accounts are already being lined up to be culled in the next couple of months to keep MonBS topped up at 7%. 2. If it falls below that then the money will likely get redistributed elsewhere
3. If the YBS £50 is still available and makes sense (bearing in mind it's also variable!), I'll take one then. If not, and I end up saving those £50s at a rate lower than 6%, I will be able to live with that.

Also while on subject of YBS they sent me a text message saying their branches are open on Saturday 27th September to help me during sUK Savings Week, that's nice but can't get to a branch🤣
YBS would have to do a lot better than their latest offer if they expect me to put my money with them during savings week.It depends what gets offered during savings week - The YBS is a great little RS if you want to compound monthly interest using RS ,which I'm doing. It also allows 3 withdrawls, so if the rate drops or a better offer comes along - gone!
You never know, Monmouthshire may have pulled the RS Issues 1's & exclusives ready to release Issue 2 during savings weeks - They'll be MSE mayhem, if they do!

There won't be much compounding going on when you can only pay in a maximum of £50 per month.Dizzycap said:subjecttocontract said:jameseonline said:

As far as I can see, I'm the same. Mine's due to mature on 30th. Picked the same options as you last night and I've had confirmation on screen saying I'll have a new Issue 4 on 30th, so I think I've got 2 issue 4s in addition to another Issue 3 maturing in January. Nothing showing in MessagesI've also got 2 Monmouth Exclusive RS1s due to the glitches when the accounts were first being set up.Make £2026 in 2026

Not necessarily. In my experience with postal applications you'll typically get a day or so leeway to take into account postal delays etc so if sent before the account went NLA you should be fine.DodgerPot said:
Me too ….. posted same date …. Think I’ve missed out on that onesubjecttocontract said:Monmouth.....Mine is in the post to them. Application form posted on 15/9. I guess I might be too late then.
Building societies often accept the application even if it was sent a day or so after the account went NLA if everything was dated to before the account went NLA.
You were indeed correct
My Monmouthshire Branch Exclusive Regular Saver has been accepted and opened by post when I thought I’d missed out after the account became NLA.
Happy I just managed to grab that account 😃2 -

PRINCIPALITY BUILDING SOCIETY
6 MONTH ISSUE 3/4.
Just gave my maturing instruction online and asked to open a 2nd Issue 4 from my original issue 3, if allowed, and the rest of the funds to nominated account. Will see on the 29th what happens.
If all goes OK will have two issue 3's and two 4's.
