I think they have a safe for that purposeMiddle_of_the_Road said:.I think it might be the already deposited cash that has to have oversight of more than one employee..
I have opened many accounts in branch, generally when there is only 2 staff you get one stay on a till and the other comes round the front to open. I have always made it clear to the assistant that if they need to leave me to help their colleague or clear a queue, I have no issue with that. To date I have found this approach has worked in every case.2 -
Monmouthshire BS Exclusive RS (both app and branch versions) at 7% NLA16

Interesting, hope they don't drop the 7% rates too soon!Bridlington1 said:Monmouthshire BS Exclusive RS (both app and branch versions) at 7% NLA0 -

Just re-posting this as it as it my have got lost in today's discussion. Does anyone have this account? I've checked my emails and can't find anything indicating a drop to 4.25% on 7th October and can't find anything on Coventry website. Could this be a mistake?Hattie627 said:Coventry BS First Home Saver Issue 2
It says on the listing on page 1 of this thread that the rate is going down to 4.25% from 7th October. There was a previous reduction to 4.5% on 1st September. The account is still listed as available at 4.5% on the Coventry website. I'm not currently saving on this account but have a sizable balance sitting in the account which will need 60 days notice to withdraw. I've not had any notice of a reduction on 7th October (that I recall). Can anyone confirm the position? TIA1 -
Not necessarily. In my experience with postal applications you'll typically get a day or so leeway to take into account postal delays etc so if sent before the account went NLA you should be fine.DodgerPot said:

Building societies often accept the application even if it was sent a day or so after the account went NLA if everything was dated to before the account went NLA.

I can't see anything either. I note that @Bridlington1 flagged Cumberland as reducing their Home Saver on 7th Oct so perhaps this is a mistake?Hattie627 said:

That's a nuisance. I was planning a day trip to Chepstow next week to open the branch one! I do have two app ones, thoughBridlington1 said:Monmouthshire BS Exclusive RS (both app and branch versions) at 7% NLA
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0 -
And YBS are reducing the rates on variable rate accounts in a couple of weeks - I wonder if that includes this one?WillPS said:Probably won't bother with an application even for YBS - 6% accounts are already being lined up to be culled in the next couple of months to keep MonBS topped up at 7%. Even if it became competitive through other reductions midterm the potential gain would be tiny.
It'll make sense for someone, but not for me.I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?1
