I applied at midday and got the same "being reviewed … up to 72 hours" message, received an email exactly one hour later saying "Good news! Your Saga Easy Access Savings Account is now open and ready for your first deposit"

This seems to be a NatWest account with a Saga skin over the top. I wonder how their ID and "New Customer" requirements work if you have an account with another NatWest brand (I have the Ulster Bank EA account)? Can you see the Saga Account in the UB app? Just trying to simplify things.

no - the Saga accounts don't show in the Ulster/Natwest apps - it has an entirely separate website login and doesn't have its own app… I think it's just using the Natwest Boxed software, the same as Mettle does (though Mettle is a Natwest brand).

SAGA EA
Can anyone tell me if withdrawals are instant please? Apologies if already mentioned, couldn't see anything about this.0 -
Yes they are. Tested a £ in and out earlier today and both were instant.

You will need a smartphone or camera enabled tablet to apply.
Does this mean photographic ID is required?
Never mind:
We accept any of the following government issued documents:
UK Driving licence (full or provisional)
Passport (all nationalities)
EU/EEA national identity card

Has anyone tried to apply? It looks to me as if opening a new account with Saga means going through a complex, painful and time consuming, user authentication process involving photographing a passport / photo driving licence using a phone cam (I guess they are probably using experian like Oxbury Bank?). Do they also require a selfie video?
TrustPilot: 61% give Saga Savings a poor satisfaction rating (just one star).

Opened one today. Very straightforward, took about 5 minutes. Yes needed photo of driving licence and a quick video. No hardship, no complex, painful and time consuming user authentication process. Then had to wait for approval. It said up to 72 hours but received email in under an hour. Haven't yet sent a deposit
