I’d suggest the over 70s or 80s are perhaps less likely to have a smartphone or camera enabled tablet, having been over 50 or 60 when that stuff started and taken a ‘if it’s not broken don’t fix it’ approach. My late 60s parents have those things and I doubt they’d manage to get an application through by themselves, as they use them for basic things like Google and calls/texts, but that’s easily solved with a little help.
The bigger problem may be the ID - those with a longstanding address and still under 70 will have a paper driving licence, as they were still issuing them until 2000, or no licence at all if health reasons mean they can no longer drive. A passport is more expensive to maintain so those with no intention to travel may not bother.
Not sure when it happened but Skipton Member Easy Access Saver now NLA.

Mobile smart phones over 50 yrs.
All of my many friends over 60 use a smart phone, don't know a single one who doesn't. My Mum uses one and she's 90, not my Dad though who is 93, he is hopeless on one, but can easily manage tablet and laptop. I'm quite happy to use mobile with banking apps, but do use websites too. I think most of us older ones now grew up with technology, so have been able to adapt better than perhaps someone of 50+ 40-50 years ago.0 -
Don't know. As it would take me 50 working days to withdraw my £1m I didn't bother applying. Even though I am way past 50 and have a smartphone thingy.

Saga EA 4.5% Saver
Update to my own post, I notice in their online portal it says "Contact us via chat if you need to access more money [than the 20K a day]"
Also it looks like you can only fund Saga EA from your nominated linked bank account, I tried a faster payment in from another account and it was returned, no text, email or other communication yet telling me why.

Yes, I made one earlier today. (Referring to the new Saga EA account, in case anyone has lost track!)

Saga
Has anyone else whose account application was being reviewed yesterday, still waiting the next day?

Mine timed out mid verification.
Still waiting to find out when "soon" is…

Anyone know if you can make scheduled payments out of this Saga Savings account? Similar to Chase's Boosted Saver facility … Chase 4.5% about to end for me in Aug.
