Has anyone else had issues setting up a payee for the Skipton Member Bonus Saver Issue 2 from First Direct?
I tried setting up a payee for it, the account passed the CoP checks with my using my name as the payee and personal as the account type. I inputted a security code that I'd generated on the secure key as normal, then when I got to the final stage of making the payment the box below appeared:
If I click the cross button it just goes back to the previous page and pops up again if I try to make the payment.
If I click ok I get a long list of companies to choose from and none of them being Skipton BS.
I also tried it with the payee as Skipton Building Society and the account type as business and again the same issue arises so am thus unable to make a deposit from FD.
I've just tried from Santander and the payee was set up and payment made without issues.0 -
I haven't set that up yet because I funded my Member Bonus Saver (MBS) from my Base Rate Tracker (BRT), but as I already have the BRT set up as a payee on my First Direct account, I think it might just a case of using that same payee but changing the reference from the BRT account number to the MBS account number at the time of making a payment, and I believe that will "add" it as another existing payee on my First Direct account.Bridlington1 said:Has anyone else had issues setting up a payee for the Skipton Member Bonus Saver Issue 2 from First Direct?

In terms of initial setup, if memory serves me right, I had to choose Skipton from a predefined list of businesses (hence account number and sort-code automatically populated) and just had to key in the Skipton account number as the reference.1 -
Yes, exactly this. I went round this circle yesterday with this setup. Skipton BS has to be selected from the predefined list of 'New Large Business'. Seems unlikely that there's more than one such list so no idea why @Bridlington1 can't see Skipton. Didn't need the code generator thingy either (using the app).intalex said:

Skipton use Barclays as their clearing bank, so it's likely that FD see the account as SBS rather than seeing "through" the SBS account to your virtual account behind. I used Nationwide yesterday straight after opening the Bonus Saver and they saw the account immediately. In these situations, Nationwide refer to the account being validated with the "payment provider", which is a different message that if you perform a COP against a normal account, suggesting that it's not a timing issue, but something about FD not handling these sorts of accounts properly?Bridlington1 said:Has anyone else had issues setting up a payee for the Skipton Member Bonus Saver Issue 2 from First Direct?2 -
I closed issue 1 and was allowed to open issue 2 - but only via the website, not the app.wiseonesomeofthetime said:Skipton Member Bonus Saver 2
Seems to stick to the rule that you cannot open issue 2, if you already have issue 1.
I have asked for my issue 1 to be closed and its £1.05 sent to my current account today (had missed yesterday's deadline).
Let's see if it lets me open issue 2 then!0 -
Regarding the Edge saver, by bonus term has come to an end so I'm back on the basic rate.....I don't suppose if i now close this account and then open another I'd get the bonus rate again?0

It doesn’t seem to allow internal transfers, though I didn’t spot a restriction to that effect on the product page. Have paid in via Debit Card and hopefully once there is a cleared balance (the account shows as paying 2.8% - the non-bonus rate until funds clear, as happened with the previous version in 2024) this will be possible.
Edit to add: Min £1, Max £5,000 - so better than Issue 1 which was capped at £3,000 if I recall correctly.
is everyone showing 2.8% and not 5% after initial deposit?
Same for me, but if you look on the app and click on 'Your savings account explained' and then ' When do I start earning interest?' it states that 'interest from debit card payments starts to accrue on the third business day, from and including the day on which a debit card payment is made'.
I opened and funded by Debit Card yesterday, hence would expect it to show 5% tomorrow.

yes - though the rate would be 6% rather than the 7% you were likely getting before the above bonus term ended... I did it last year via Sandi (online chat) and closed the account - if memory serves, it took a day or two to close and then I opened another Edge Saver... i'll be in your boat in 3 weeks time and will be doing the above again to obtain the new rate (assuming it's still available).andyhicks88 said:Regarding the Edge saver, by bonus term has come to an end so I'm back on the basic rate.....I don't suppose if i now close this account and then open another I'd get the bonus rate again?2 -
I tried applying for the Skipton Members Bonus account through the app, got weird errors twice. I then tried it online and it worked first time round but I wasn't able to transfer anything from another Skipton easy access account or make card deposits. All rather odd. I left it for a couple of hours, and now I could make the transfer and card deposits. Interest rate showing as 5%.0

Did FP to my tracker then internal transfer across.
Now showing funds and 5% rate.
All done for now 👍0
