I checked on this at the end of last week. Our forum provider still hasn't had much success reproducing this issue.

However, a very similar issue other forums have been experience has been confirmed and a fix is ready.
This, combined with an upgrade behind the scenes to improve how the threads are displayed, will hopefully mean that this issue is resolved very soon
Good Morning @MSE_Stephen, I cannot believe that the forum provider cannot replicate the fault; do they need any poster to send them evidence?   Do you know how long is (a piece of string) very soon?
Why not get the forum provider to register an account with MSE. They should then be able to replicate the problem quite easily.

This sseems to be browser dependant for me. It works OK in Vivaldi, but that currently has its own bugs, so I'm back with Firefox. Firefox has the issue.

If I click on a thread, it opens correctly.

If I right click, and "open link in new page", it takes me to the bottom of the page.

I always work this way, so I know it's only a recent problem.

(!! These are the only two android browsers that force your forums into dark mode, so I need to use one or the other!! )

Eta, also the crazy wide paragraph spacing is back again.

Just narrowed it down even further...

Right clicking to open an unbookmarked thread is OK.

Right clicking to open a bookmarked thread, jumps you to the bottom.

    Hi everyone

This issue has been marked as being resolved in an upcoming release:
Fixed issue where ‘Back’ browser button takes user to the bottom of the page
This is expected to come into effect in the week beginning 29th July, but sometimes some of these fixes are back-ported and you can see them in effect earlier.

Looking forward to it or backward to it, if it was fixed earlier!

Not sure if it's related to the main reported issue or not but I've recently found that the navigation to the first unread post of a thread (via the #latest URL suffix) is now also flawed too, and instead of presenting the new post itself (to read it), it positions the display below it, at the post editing window (to respond to it).

Just me (Chrome on Windows), or are others seeing this too?

It'll be interesting to see if the above-mentioned fix addresses this too, so perhaps a new thread if not....

Yes, I've seen that happen, although I can't remember which browser I was using at the time (android).

I flit between Vivaldi and Firefox.

Firefox was doing the "jumping to the bottom of the page" thing, and Vivaldi have messed up their zoom levels and dark mode. Grrr.

Thank you. Pages are opening at the correct / expected place now.

Edited to add. Spoke too soon.

If you right click/press, and open a bookmarked thread in new tab, it takes the you to the correct place.

If you right click/press on a few in turn, before going and reading them, one thread is correct, but you get jumped to the bottom of the rest.

Yes, that is happening to me and I am on Chrome and Windows 11, although I doubt it is the platform and or browser, as it was working previously and, of course, still not working properly today!
