Our forum provider hasn't been able to replicate this yet.
As I mentioned above, I was able to reproduce this briefly on Windows, but can't today - It flashes for a second at the bottom as if it might stick there, but then it goes to the correct place.
I'll keep on trying to see if I can get catch it misbehaving consistently so I can see if I can do some tests and figure out why it's happeningIt seems to only happen when a board is busy. For example, at certain times of the day the Parking board is quite busy and refreshing the screen will leave the viewer looking at the How this site works panel at the foot of every page.
At quiet times, when no thread has been edited, then it seems to work properly most of the time.
so not very busy
It also only appears to happen when one has been reading a thread and uses the back button to return to the thread index page. If one just refreshes the index page without viewing a thread that appears to consistently work properly.
It is 03:00 am, so not very busy. I am looking at Latest Threads/Recent Discussions.
I click into a thread and have a read, click the back button and it takes me back to the bottom of the index page.
If I am in the middle of the index page and click the refresh button, it takes me to the bottom of the index page.
Tried several times all with the same result
Now I am on the Standard Online Competitions index page.
I click in to look at a competition. Read the details. Click the back button and it takes me straight back to where I started.
Just tried it on this Site Feedback board and the thread we are in.
When I clicked the back button, it went back to the bottom of the index page for a second then back up to the top where I started.
So that is three different results on three different boards.
I am using Chrome on a chromebook.Bob0 -
I get this it any time of day and whether I am using my mobile or computer. Very annoying.0

Hi everyone
I checked on this at the end of last week. Our forum provider still hasn't had much success reproducing this issue.
However, a very similar issue other forums have been experience has been confirmed and a fix is ready.
This, combined with an upgrade behind the scenes to improve how the threads are displayed, will hopefully mean that this issue is resolved very soon.Join the MSE Forum

Same issue occurs for me ~80% of the time, so while intermittent, its the majoirty of the time. I've tried hitting back and leaving it for 10+ minutes while doing other tasks and stays at the bottom, never moves back up. using a Google Chrome browser on Windows PC.0

It works OK in Vivaldi, but that currently has its own bugs, so I'm back with Firefox. Firefox has the issue. If I click on a thread, it opens correctly. If I right click, and "open link in new page", it takes me to the bottom of the page.I always work this way, so I know it's only a recent problem.(!! These are the only two android browsers that force your forums into dark mode, so I need to use one or the other!! )Eta, also the crazy wide paragraph spacing is back again.0 -
