Thanks, Not a huge poetry fan but it reminded me that in the early days of us he bought me a couple of anthologies and marked the ones he liked so I rooted those out.
Today was again 'emotional'. His bike came home without him. I had a glass of wine and then decided to try out his rowing machine rather than slide into a soggy mess of wine and chocolate. I only did 2km (16 minutes) because it isn't a machine I have used before but so far no impact on ankle or IBS. Bluetooth headphones keep on disconnecting but the playlist was less painful. Gadget man had several good pairs of headphones. Just need to track them down, clean them and see if they work for me. Now on tea and eccles cakes so a good diversion.
A spendy day though, I had to pay the storage charges for the bike (receipt in the probate folder future me) but I also went to the local retail park this morning and bought two running bras, some running pants and an underwired bra that fits my current size for whatever I wear for the funeral. I had been living in walking kit for a while so much needed.
oh and now on ACDC/Thunderstruck - one of his all time favourite songs. I might fetch the amp and some of the good speakers back out of storage so that I can drown in music. Or at least put one of the better bluetooth speakers on charge. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I have read in the bath for years. Every night without fail. The bathroom was one of the first rooms we did here so that I could read in comfort and he extra insulated the bath so that you get a good hour of heat insulation. I can't see to read without my glasses so it has been kindle only for years but the Paperwhite is waterproof. The last room he did was to refresh the bathroom for me. Still full of tools but I can't bring myself to remove them yet.
('every minute of every hour, I miss you, I miss you, I miss you more. Every stumble and each misfire, I miss you, I miss you, I miss you more' Bastille Good grief. Actually this playlist is just as bad!)My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I remember you advising me to do the same with my bath at the last house when I was doing the bathrooms. I'm not sure whether they are done here, but there is plenty of hot water and I seem to happily manage an hour or more in the bath. As we had to clear out the drains today (well, the gardener did - I just provided instructions and flushed loos/turned on taps to check the flow), I now have to have lots of baths and long showers to make sure I keep the drains clear. So tonight is a bath in the HUGE bath in the vast, and still far too empty and echoey spare room ensuite.
I might need to buy more books...5 -
AC/DC "Thunderstruck" is a super-favourite here too.

Various bluetooth music devices on charge so I can experiment later.
Had to get up for the dogs so I filled my car with stuff from his skip pile on the patio and braved the tip. We used to save it up on the patio till there was enough for a skip but it looks fairly messy every time you go outside. I will sort the scrap metal next as the chap who collects that is nice and doesn't stress me. Mr Redo made the odd metal sculpture so he saved things he thought would work in future but that will not be useful for anyone else.
Off to take the dog round my old village 5k circuit (walking) and then I might do some weeding when I get back.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

We did a tip run today - always very satisfying 😊

Well done on the tip run. I haven't been to the tip since I moved here as so far I've managed to shovel most things into the bin (small electricals are collected, although we don't have a food waste collection like all the neighbouring areas). Although it has meant having to slice up carpet and break up broken loft boards. There's still a bit of those left to go, but it's not too bad.
What I really do need to do is review all my FB marketplace listings and either delete and relist looking different with different pricing, or just give up and send them off to the CS.7 -
I was planning on taking some more stuff this morning but we had a huge thunderstorm yesterday afternoon, power on and off and the rudely woken by all the village alarms going off at 5.45am as it cut off again. Still down but Greenbee made me realise I had the means to make coffee. Hurrah for remembering to take a torch to bed. Anyway tired, and everything is very wet so I will leave that for another day.Big rain showed me that the gutters are blocked. I know this is wisteria related at the front and I ordered some telescopic loppers to see what I can without risking the ladders. I saw quite a few gutter/roof places recommended on the local spotted page so will get someone in to quote. I need the guttering and fascia's replacing at some stage anyway once some cash is released.on the positive side the kitchen window sealant held (GP may remember me mentioning this a while back as a short term fix for leaks) despite the sheer volume of water.
i had roasted a chicken, and made crispy bacon just as the power went off, and it came back on long enough to sort macaroni cheese so I could feed everyone. Leftover chicken will do a few easy meals.I also did cheap tortilla chips topped with diced HG tomatoes and grated cheddar, warmed in the oven until the cheese melted. A nice change and at least involved some vitamins.
really need to rethink food planning and shopping. So easy to default to what we always had and auto replace things. I've also got a pile of things for the food bank (that only he ate) that I need to drop off somewhere. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese
